    Any thoughts?

When I think about the 50's they don't really seem that far away, but when you read something like this and compare it to our modern day lives the change is just extraordinary!
Whoever wrote this is a role model for women allover the world. Little more of this attitude is whats needed and a little less nicki minaj.

I saw this in my Sociology lesson last year when studying the division of labour that takes place in a household, it was basically about men having the instrumental role i.e. going out to earn money whereas women were seen as having the expressive, caring role in the house.

complete bs if you ask me

I don't know how they did it, what did the women talk about? I would scream too.
Compared notes on how to raise kids? I want to be a teacher so liking kids is in the job description, but jeeze, how did they do it? How can one person find a life like that interesting? Teachers have an academic background. They are expected to know stuff and have intelligence. They also get to spend time with other adults in the staff room. 1950s stay at home mums were expected to focus entirely on the home and the housework.

I love kids, I just hate housework.

To be fair that sounds like a great, happy, family life. We have gone from that (when one person could earn enough to raise a family) to now, when the average family trying to get by on one salary would be suicide.
And if being the person in that article sounds horrible for women today, I would happily do that all day. Sounds great. I wish I was a 1950's housewife.

That sounds like a happy, peaceful family life. Now we have both parents working full time just to make ends meet.

I would happily be that housewife to have that kind of household again. Who knows, I might actually spend more time with my kids and family than my work colleagues...

Lol! We legitimately used to/maybe still do have that in a portrait on a wall as a joke. Some bits of it are hilarious but yeah maybe a bit out of date. Maybe some of it still applies though >.> lolololol. Jks

It's one thing choosing that role for yourself and another having it dictated to you.

Personally I think I'd probably kill myself due to a lack of mental stimulation/socialising.

You're trolling. But I think it all depends how many hours each of your are working. If one does less then they should do more at home, but really a couple should have shared responsibility.
Yeh thats what i meant and i take it back because i actually read it now and i don't agree with the guide
