Don't believe the bull :dolphin::dolphin::dolphin::dolphin: you see on those benefits estate program's on channel 4 and 5 or in the daily mail, there right wing Tory propaganda to support benefit cuts, harsher sanctions and cruel benefit reforms.

The truth is how can anyone afford to eat on £70 a week JSA benefit let alone afford a holiday? Not to mention the hoops people have jump through to get their measly £70 dole. Few benefit claimants make it beyond 6 months without getting a 3 month sanction for some petty reason, because of sanction targets. Yes they will even threaten to sanction people who ask to cancel a Jobcentre appointment because they've a job interview!
Add to that bedroom tax, Housing benefit cap which means JSA has to pay rent because the HB may not be enough to pay extortionate rents!

The reality of benefits is not holidays, luxury cars huge plasma screen TVs like you see on those stupid benefits program's on c4 and 5. The reality is food banks, payday loans, debt, pawn shops, starvation, child poverty and homelessness. Except that's never shown.
Well I've got a cousin on benefits that bought a new TV, a holiday to Spain and two dogs.

Meanwhile my parents both work full time and had to cancel their 1-week holiday in the UK.

I disagree. Why is helping British people more important than helping others? A billion pounds can do more in a third world country than it can in the UK because third world countries are worse-off to begin with.

As someone who enjoys watching benefits porn with my Polish friends-we all drink whenever an English person says certain things or is fat-I must say I just don't recognise your description of what's apparently shown on these programmes.

I mean that as someone who spent several years on the dole I think these programmes give a reasonable portrayal of the lifestyle of the people I met.

It's a very interesting lifestyle to have for a few years and you can certainly get by and have a life of sorts provided you

a )don't smoke b) have a second income, however small, preferably within the rules.

(In my case I was supplementing my benefits by playing quiz machines and pub quizzes)

So...I know a couple of benefits claiming families and every year they go on nice holidays baring in mind they have no one working in their families....and I'm not talking about the average holiday to Spain these people go on holiday to places like Dubai they even book the most expensive hotels near the sea
My cousin's family is like this. However, the reason why they can afford this is due to serious "cheapness". They always have coupons lying everywhere around their house. They always cook at home and rarely buy take-out except for birthdays. They're just really good budgeters.

By the way I'd like to add that if any of you has a friend from a country like Poland I think you should sit down with them and watch a benefits porn programme.

The look on their faces really does tell 1000 words.

Many of these Poles that come over here went hungry when they were children and many of them still have mothers who are having to get by on pensions that are significantly less than Jobseeker's Allowance.

And of course they nearly all had to work 50 or 60 hour weeks for many years for poor wages to get them.

It's just baffling how they can afford all those cars and holidays whilst on benefits? And brag about how well off they are
They don't brag about it though do they?

If these cases are genuine then either they were wealthy before their business crashed or whatever happened and they have perhaps lied about their savings or they are working while on benefits.

It is rather common for people on benefits to be working on the black market of course.

And if they are they are hardly likely to wish to deliberately draw attention to themselves .

Yeah but the British government should spend its taxpayer money on improving Britain, not some third world country. We should spend it on solving our own problems (creating new infrastructure and providing subsidies to stimulate the economy, providing some benefits to those struggling, education, helathcare)- foreign aid is wasted money and will not benefit British people, so why should we give it? I agree we have an obligation to give a little bit so we should give the minimum foreign aid hat we possibly can, not overdose on it.

Why should it only benefit the British people? If we're going to say that we should only spend money to benefit ourselves, then I could argue that I just shouldn't have to pay taxes. My money should benefit me, not everyone else.

Am I the only one that doesn't blame benefit scroungers for what they do?
I know quite a few families on benefits, mostly families with 5+ children (which has caused the mother to take a lot of time off work).

Now, I haven't seen family bank statements or anything, but from an outsider's perspective, they seem to be living a good life. They don't go on holidays to Dubai or anything but they live in good houses, drive latest cars, are always making random renovations to their homes, etc.
Meanwhile, my parents who are both full-time professionals often struggle to make necessary ends meet.

Secondly, with the price of childcare and the percentage of tax taken off your income, just staying home and claiming benefits sometimes works out to be the most economically sound decision for certain dual income families.

    I really don't blame them.

I live in an area with a high number of people claiming benefits. And I'm talking about those who have chosen to have multiple children whilst on benefits and yet still manage to go on multiple foreign holidays a year. They have multiple cars, go on nice holidays and have the latest Iphones. They have like 6+ kids so if they could afford all those stuff on benefits then surely they are getting paid too much the benefits should be reduced to the bare minimum needed for survival.
The tax payer shouldn't fund them so they can splash their cash on a 5* hotel in Dubai.

And please don't start on the £70 dole money a week that's just for people who don't have kids. However, pop out some kids and you'll find that you'll be given a brand new house, Child benefits, Child tax credits, not expected to sign on and a maternity grand this country has gone mad
No wonder the whole of Eastern Europe are here and why they generally have a high birth rate they are breeding like rabits
In honesty you're very evidently lying. Taking 6+ children along with two adults to a 5* hotel in Dubai, even for three nights would cost thousands, let alone paying for things while you're there.

As for 'multiple cars' - that isn't saying much, my friend bought a car for £140 once so two at that price isn't much.

The 'latest' iPhone is realistically going to cost at least £30 per month and you used the plural. The cost of all of this, plus the the essentials, would be far higher than anyone's benefit amount, anyone with a brain can spot that Mr Farage.

Just because there is a ruling saying they can't work, doesn't mean they don't. You can get paid under the table anywhere for any type of legal work.

+ I live in a area with high amounts of people on benefits and honestly a lot of them are into credit card scams (Big one), drug dealing, fraud etc. I get asked to be involved in A LOT of dodgy credit card stuff, no one is worried about keeping it quiet because people rarely get caught.

I don't believe you. If you said one family then maybe but a couple? A couple of families going on luxurious holidays each year even though they are on benefits? Nope.
I agree with you. This OP is either lying or grossly exaggerating. Surviving on benefits cannot be easy for anyone. Benefit Street was a disgraceful piece of voyeuristic tv with its stereotyping that fed the prejudices of ignorant DM reader types.

I hope karma bites their a*se

Obviously I agree, what makes it more pathetic is the people I'm talking about are EU CITIZENS!! They have obviously shopped around and chosen the country that will give them the most benefits. A crazy amount to get just by sitting down on your arse all day long!

I disagree, the benefit family neighbours I'm talking about openly admit that they get too much handouts maybe by next year child tax credits will be limited to 2 kids but these people are taking the piss. Although I must admit they have1 disabled child that they get extra money for and a brand new car worth ££££££ every 3 years. Nothing wrong with getting extra money to help out a disabled child but the mother is blowing it on holidays every half term holidays

    This is how its possible.

Lets say you have a severe disabled person in your family and they are 25+. They get the following welfare money.

    £73.10 Main rate ESA.
    £36.20 Support component ESA.
    £15.75 Enhanced Disability Premium ESA.
£61.85 Severe Disability Premium ESA or Carers Allowance.
    £82.30 High rate care PIP.
    £57.45 High rate mobility PIP.
£108.00 15 hours Permitted Work Wage.

    Total = £434.65 a week or £22602 a year.

    Then add:

    Free Bus pass.
    Free NHS prescriptions.
    Free Council Tax Payments.
Travel money reimbursed from NHS appointments.
£140 Warm Home Discount (Energy Company).
Discount on Water Raters (Water Sure).
Discount on Phone Line & Broadband (BT Basic).

And then add all of this to the Mother of 4+ children who isn't effected by the benefit cap due to having a disabled person in their household.

The single Mother will get about £25,000+ regardless if she works or not.

Its a perfectly legitimate benefit scrounging loop-hole.

A disabled person gets the care they need and a scrounging mum gets to continue being a scrounging mum with the added benefit of Carers Allowance.
There is something wrong with the system when a school drop out who has failed her GCSE can live on more than someone who has a PHD!
Fml they even get discounts for water bills, council tax, no rent even theough they clearly could make a small countribution it explains why they are always changing their kitchen every year--
Someone who's single get s like 50 quid a week and they expect them to survive on that I think the system is unfair and rewards people who have chosen a career on benefits by having sooo many kids
