I think that goes to show how inactive the National Liberals are.

I agree. They should be closed down.

True, he only wants all immigrants deported, not to have everyone sterilised.

 Got an image in my head of the right honourable gentleman going up to people in the street and telling them they can't vote.
Have you seen the actual TV ad to get people to register to vote?

I don't see the problem with sterilisation in general - it's just that it's based on many non-genetic factors, and also some which don't matter at all (appearance-based ones).

Oh yeah, didn't even cross my mind. Not sure how effective that ad is going to be.

It takes away one of the most fundamental functions of most human bodies without the consent of their owners. It's on the same level as forcing someone to have brain surgery to change their personality - it's the most extreme form of oppression possible. Besides, what if the parents of the person who would have found a cure for cancer were sterilised? What then?

That's extremely unlikely, and also an argument against abortion. I think it's fine to assume that optimisation of the gene pool is a good in itself, and tbh I don't think many who would be sterilised under my idea of a program would seriously consider children anyway (they would mainly be people with genetic diseases).

Which, for reference, I'm not a fan of either, although I wouldn't ban it.

Okay, so if you're defining optimisation of the gene pool as sterilising mainly people with genetic diseases, then as you say, those people probably aren't going to reproduce anyway, so surely it's a waste of money?

    1) Purely for the sake of it, the thread should be called 'Notification of a General Election' (admittedly, the PM went and told people much earlier).

    2) You forgot to point out that all items will be withdrawn or sent to vote on Thursday.

    3) Technically you should have also pointed out that parliament is hereby dissolved and no new items will be accepted.

    ...

Other than that, good going and good luck with your first election. Your not the only speaker to be slightly incorrect once or twice.

The ceiling is probably not going to fall in. That doesn't mean that I should buy expensive supporting structures and fill the room with them just in case.

I copied the title and most of the text from Birchington's previous one.

    Thank you Rakas.

    It begins.

I will probably vote Tory as usual, manifesto permitting.
