A week after subforum access is better

True actually. That would make more sense

Aye, this would make proposed coalitions clearer for other members to see.

As said, the four weeks is a preliminary period, and it is to allow fixed time including time for the CT to eventually get their arses off their seats to unlock the offices

That is why aph, I believe, is saying one week after subfourm access is given to all government parties. I don't think it needs to be a week, could be 4/5 days at most and be more than enough time I'd reckon, but I'm not against this change, however I will vote aye for the current version if the change isn't made

One week is too much. 2-3 days is more than enough for 20 people to mock up a quick page-long representation of their plans. I'm not the one typically arguing that people should commit themselves more to this place, but needing a week to write that is beyond absurd - an organised Government could do it within an hour.

Oh, writing it takes no time at all, it's a matter of consensus though, by the very same reasoning should we not have a set of statements, one from every department, and a budget within a week of getting the sub because nothing takes long to write, damn checking that everybody agrees with the positions.

I mean, consensus should happen within the coalition negotiations anyway. That's the only reason I'm allowing as much as an hour. Plus, there's no requirement that controversial potential elements of the program are included, so the Government doesn't have to be at one on all points of their legislative program for this to work.

Consensus in methodology. On taxes what the party wants to do is broadly related to what I want to do (hopefully) which is different to what the liberals want to do but arguably gets to the same end point. Diving straight into it would involve putting bits of ours and bits of theirs into the QS and then maybe doing neither because the positions hadn't actually been discussed in anything more than very abstract "this is the sort of direction"

Surely you have some idea of what you are going to do in the coalition before you submit the deal?

Yes, but simply publishing the list of policies in the agreement is highly uninformative given it's pretty much all in the public domain anyway

    Is it?

Normally there are some manifesto policies the partners disagree on and either postpone or produce independently, these would not be included for example.
