The point is though, that if you're constantly blowing off the work, then why shouldn't the employer be allowed to not offer them any work. Without seeing figures on this, I wouldn't be able to legitimately say much more though.
If this is the case then the employer's receiving the flexibility, but the employee isn't. You can't simultaneously have a ZERO hour contract, purport to benefit the employee with flexibility, but not have the employee be able to say 'right I'm off on holiday for six weeks'.

However, that's not quite the key point (though it should be a powerful one for illustrating why employee flexibility in ZHCs is a complete myth). More importantly, an employer can use their monopsony power (it's much harder, mentally, financially and actually, for someone to find a new job than it is for an employer to find a new employee 99.9% of the time) to essentially require that an employee be available at their beck and call, thus removing any possibility of the employee doing anything actually constructive with the rest of their time (for instance, a second job). Employee flexibility in ZHCs is a complete myth, structurally speaking.

    Ok, what's gonna happen:

Cost of production increases, this leads to cost push inflation from prices being put up. Means that consumers will consume less, especially with time lag between wages coming in line with inflation. consumption will decrease, meaning companies get less income, more workers get laid off, socialists ****ed the country.

The bolded effect will be completely negligible. I generally agree that the rest tends to occur with significant production cost increases, but this will not happen with this Bill.

    I disagree.

    I disagree.
Then vote against this. I have provided (I feel) a coherent case for the economic effect of this being negligible; if I haven't convinced you already, I don't think I will be able to.

    Then that is fair enough.

If you wanna mix it up, maybe your party could bring out some of those tory items we heard a lot about last term that were all ready to go...
