We want to encourage cycling, so the cheaper helmets are where the difference lies.... That being said, I can't remember the last time I saw a cyclist wear a helmet.
You want to encourage cycling, so put tax on cycling stuff

Again, I will repeat that we initially thought there was higher tax on cycling stuff, it is only today that I have learnt otherwise.

It is nice to see the Green Party admitting it is incompetent when it comes to researching a bill.

Not necessarily limited to when just researching a bill.

Nige has raised concerns that make this bill, in its current form, impossible for me to support.

If you can explain how publishing a bill with an error in, that was revealed after five minutes of research, is not incompetency when writing bills I shall withdraw the comment.

It's just a case of: we missed that in our research as the page did not come up in our quick google.

Other than this criticism, does the honourable member support the intention of this Bill to reduce the tax for these specific items, where they are taxed currently?

Yes, I am in favour of tax cuts on items if those taxes are not sin taxes, however, I would suggest this bill be extended to cover all residential construction to boost house building, all residential redevelopment to reuse disused houses, and change the tax laws to allow VAT on construction tools to be reclaimed.
