People who choose animals over parents? Wow a new low for them. Fair enough, some people don't have the best parents and caused them to have a **** life, but they are still your parents! I would never put my parents in a home and if they required care, a live in nurse never a home. **** no!
Pretty much this tbh. Could neer put them in a home, unless it was their own, or MY own

I agree. I'm a vegetarian myself, but still not deluded enough to think that the life of an animal is equal to or more than a human's.

You aint seriously implyin dat animals are on a level pegging to humans? The people dat raised you since you was a baby, are they really equal to a volatile, wild, smelly mutt? Animals are mostly to be eaten isn't it?
Pretty ignorant OP to make. Many people may not have either the financial, temporal or intellectual resources to care for elderly parents. Care homes have trained people who actually know how to properly care for them if the children can't.

Since when is providing a pet a loving home a bad thing?

I can't stand douches like you who think animals are nothing but dumb burdens to the world and so don't deserve a home.

And btw fix your English. I doubt anyone will take you seriously.
You clearly didn't understand him. Read again.

Then they've kinda wasted their life then haven't they. As Asians our whole lives are planned by our elders and our community so that we are effectively a cog serving the wider wheel of family and community. Our marriages are planned so that the relevent suitor is from a mutually similarly sort of background of decent standing, our education and careers are planned likewise so that they have solid prospects for the future and are lucrative and of ultimately when we come of age it is our duty to pay due diligence to the ones that helped us get there. As opposed to westerners who indulge in every whim and desire going and apply these misguided notions of fairness, freedom and democracy when in reality its just instant gratification they are trying to legitimise. If you have lived your entire life and haven't gathered enough wisdom and resources to support the people that made you then what the hell is your existence for; effectively you're just an animal.

The steady emission of fumes from coal power plants has meant that, over the centuries, fish has become full of toxic metals (like mercury, cadmium, lead) that gets released when coal is burnt.

Eating small fish (anchovies, sardines) is fine because they have mostly only eaten sea plants. Every layer up the fish food chain you go, you are eating more and more mercury etc.

For example, one salmon may eat 100 sardines, while 1 swordfish may eat 100 salmons, while one shark may eat 1000 swordfish.

Stay away from big fish - you'll become addicted to mercury and a bit insane (like Japs) and then won't be able to give it up (like Japs).

Put their elderly parents in a home but keep animals in their home.

Why they are doin these fings?
Not all of us do that. Only two old people I've known have wound up in homes - one was unable to look after herself and had no relatives, and the other had Alzheimer's and there was no way we could take her into our home. Everyone else I've known who's died of old age lived in their own place right until the end.

The only acceptable reason dat you can have a pet>parents is under extreme financial circumstances. These lot raised you for bare time and you lot are gonna dump em in a care home cos 'it has a high quality of specialist care" no stfu youre just too lazy. If you want specialist care and can afford to get one to visit your house every so often (not even dat expensive) then do that. Youre disgusting if you got no excuse and choose a pet over your parents, fix up pls

them pets are bred cos of demand so dont gimme that ******** excuse that silly feminist at the start saying "Pets are equal" if you think pets are equal to your parents abeg just leave the country we dont need more idiots.

First deep post ive written like ever.

People don't put elders in a home for no reason, they do it because they cannot look after them or don't have space for them. In most developing countries, people have large families of whom many women do not work. So there's always someone around to look after elderly people. Also in developing countries old people tend to die much younger because medical treatment there is bad, so people don't usually survive serious illness. Whereas in places where medical treatment is good, people can stay alive for 20 years with very bad health requiring round the clock medical treatment.

The grammar in this post is a far cry from the op...

Culture and upbringing obviously has everything to with the differing opinions... I still find it hard to agree with you that everybody should take care of their parents when they no longer can take care of themselves. My blind grandmother lives with us and it is very much a 24/7 job having to take care of her, it's extremely stressful and difficult, especially in western culture when many of the women of the house also work full time, it's almost financially impossible for people to give up work to be a full time carer, even with benefits.

Thats the point though isn't it, the entire white western family structure is at fault. Why the **** are women going out to work, why the **** are so many adult men on benefits or living alone, or playing video games? If we reverted to the pre-feminist liberal society and applied traditional societal roles that were compatible with our biology we would not be now suffering a lot of the problems we now are. Bottom line reinstate the traditional nuclear family; ban divorce, punish extra marital relations, get goras to study proper subjects and stay off the sauce, the drugs and the cocks, get the men do hard physical jobs or business or white collar work rather than gay history degrees and get women the **** out of The City or management or any of that **** and back looking after their home, their very young and their very old.

You should not judge an entire background and region based on your limited knowledge. Are you seriously saying that you have met every single white western family?

Did I say that they didn't? What annoyed me the most about OP is that he views animals as scum. Just because I defended animals does it mean I don't think my parents deserve one? It doesn't princess.

And just in case it was bothering you, I'd make sure my parents were living in a decent house and if they needed help, I'd employ a nurse to help them.

But that's where you are soooooo wrong. In western culture, we have care homes in place and people who are willing to take care of the elder people so that women and men can go out to work and essentially follow their dreams. I for one will NOT be a stay at home woman, living my life for others. Your way of thinking is so primitive it's almost laughable.

What kind of existence is it that your life doesn't venture outside of the family unit, sure your family deserve time and love and a home but why the hell should anybody be forced to give up their own lives to do this. When I'm old I would NEVER want my child to be burdened by me, I would willingly go into a care home without hesitation if it got to that point.

And those "gay" degrees you're talking about happen to help shape the society we live in now. History is an important part of our heritage, it educates the next generation, and keeps our past very much alive still.

You are the personification of ignorance and I am physically laughing at the sexist remark you just publicly posted on a predominantly western forum.

My mum and her siblings had to put their mother in a home as she lived alone and suffered from Dementia. Things came to a head when she started leaving things on the cooker for hours and small fires would break out in the kitchen. All four of her children worked full time and had their own children and their own lives to lead. She received excellent care, 24/7 for the remainder of her life. More importantly from my grandmother's point of view, she had company every day with people of her own generation ,which is something she wouldn't have had if she had gone to live with one of her children or stayed in her flat on her own.

He did not say he viewed animals as scum or anything equivalent to that. He clearly implied that parents are more important than pets( because they are) and so he raised an important question. If parents are more important, why have they been substituted with animals? Are parents not worthy of your home?

What annoys me is that you are annoyed by the fact that animals are being maltreated(even though OP didn't mention he thought animals were scum), and that you are not annoyed by the fact your own parents are being maltreated. You were more keen to defend the animals, rather than show any sympathy for elderly parents. This is how you implied that animals were more important than your own parents.
Please read further down of the first page. OP did.

And as for elderly parents. Do you even know how hard they are to look after? They require around the clock care sometimes and it's better to let someone whose medically qualified to deal with them.
