'What is meant by a moment of force?'
the turning effect of the force
2. (Original post by TSRPAV)
that is the definition of a moment.look it up if you want to
That paper was hard af..
Also I wrote the moments are a turning force
Is That right?
3. There were questions about like the centre of mass and stuff:

what is meant by the 'centre of mass'?
the point where the mass appears to be concentrated

why is tower B more unstable than A?
- narrower base
- higher centre of mass

why doesn't this tower fall over?
- the line of action of the weight lies within the base so there is no resultant moment causing it to topple

(not sure if these are correct)

sounds like a moments question, if you could be more precise on what the question was i could calc it, was it something like

..........< 0.12m> ............<0.20m>
(1.5N)-----------(pivot)-----------------(Force Xn)

anything like that? if so just do 1.5*0.12=0.2*X so X=1.5*0.12/0.2 =0.9 Nm

but hey i dont know what the exact question was cos i didn't sit this paper, this was just a guess at what the question might be?
No the pivot was to the right.
< 0.20 > (distance from chain to pivot)
< 0.12 > (distance from toe to pivot)
Chain------------toe------------pivot
5. What do you use to carry out laser eye surgery??
Spoiler:
Show
i put endoscope smh

yeah you should be alright, think at GCSE you can get away with it, might be cruel and say only accept turning force at a distance from pivot

I put a laser
8. (Original post by dianmian12)
I put a laser
**** I was going to put that but thought it would be too obvious
9. idk if it was in P2 or P3, but what was going on with that optical fibre thing :/

Swap the pivot and the force and you're done. You had also the force in the middle was 1.5N and you had to work out the furthest left one. I think i got 0.9N

lol peak, it wasn't as hard as you are making out; if you slept well and revised there's no excuse to get below 51-54, hence the grade bounadries will remain i think at 44 or 46
No, the grade boundaries can vary quite a lot for this unit. I took the 2013 past paper last night, and I thought that paper wasn't much harder than the one this year. To get an A* in that paper you only needed 41. So you'll probably need 42-43 for an A* in this year's paper.
12. (Original post by Omz123)
For A*?
What bout physics unit 2? What ur predictions for A*?
42, P3 is 43
13. (Original post by surina16)
**** I was going to put that but thought it would be too obvious
Haha
It didn't exactly state it was a 'laser' eye surgery so i just guessed.
14. fml, can you still get an A with an average of 41 across all papers and a C in the Isa ??
15. Hi guys, if I get an
A* in my ISA,
A in bio
A in chem
C in physics
Can I still get an A overall?!? This physics has really ****ed me up ...

The one with the A and B?

oh ok well it doesnt actually effect it and yes the answer is 0.9N lol just realised i put the wrong units Nm in my original post because i was still trying to figure out what the question was while solving it , 0.9N should be correct

I put laser beam shooter, when you Google that you'll see those Avengers guns xDD
