This is a ranking, from Heaven down to Hell:

This is based on my perceptions of areas of England. I am pretty biased in favour of the North East and Lincolnshire. I have been to pretty much all of these areas, including all of the bottom ten or so.

    Heaven

    Lincolnshire
    Oxford
    County Durham
    Cambridge
    Lake District
    Derbyshire
    Bristol
    North Yorkshire
    Northumberland
    Somerset
    Carlisle
    Devon
    Sheffield
    Nottinghamshire
    Brighton
    Gloucestershire
    Dorset
    Northamptonshire
    Suffolk
    Norfolk
    Warwickshire
    North London
    Sussex
    Hampshire
    Newcastle
    Wiltshire
    Peterborough
    Lancashire
    --------------
    Leeds
    Cheshire
    Buckinghamshire
    Manchester
    Hertfordshire
    West Yorkshire
    Staffordshire
    Cornwall
    Coastal Areas of Cumbria
    Kent
    Leicestershire
    Sunderland
    Bradford
    Berkshire
    Blackpool
    South London
    Bolton
    Coventry

    From my own experience

    Heaven:
    Newcastle
    Durham
    Edinburgh

    Hell:
Manchester (Always raining, buildings look depressing as ****)
    Same for Liverpool
    Middlesbrough
Newcastle = heaven?....*splurts out coffee in amusement*

Heaven in UK as far as I have seen is wealthy suburban areas in London, like Richmond, Hammersmith and Kensington.

Hell = pretty much anywhere else in the UK, primarily for one of two reasons:

    1) if in London, its likely hell because its too poor/ghetto-ised
    2) if outside London, its not sufficiently developed/urban enough
