    Fine - I've already stated elsewhere that I think it's all a bit OTT on it's opinions of its own importance (although those posts were deleted)

    Really I thought it pretty much summed up:

    Yup - d&d takes itself far too seriously to be any fun - the skill of a good debater is to not only make good points but to make them in such a way as to be entertaining and enjoyable to read/listen to. Just reading a bunch of pedantic point scoring oneupmanship and personal rants is not entertaining....

    the awards thing... like ollie says it did take an awful lot of organising (i don't think people necessarily realised how much there was to do) and it caused so much bickering when we did it that that it could so easily cast a shadow over the whole thing and just cause trouble.
