    That's very high
It is lower than 21 for the US. A universal age will be 20 for all activities. That way, we are confident that people have completed their teenage years.

No but I think the law should take into account age difference. Its not at all the same thing if a 40 year old sleeps with a 15 year old or a 16 year old does yet they're both commiting a crime.I also think that if a teenager sends a nude picture then that shouldnt be a crime.Yet now you have the ridiculous situation where they're both the perpetrator and the victim of the same crime. In addition you have the stupid situation where teenagers cant look at porn until they're 18 but can have sex at 16.This kind of indicates that they should be having sex blindfolded which could lead to all sorts of problems.

The most confusing thing I've seen is how I've been allowed to have sex for over a year now but I'm still not supposed to watch porn. Am I supposed to have my eyes closed if I have some kinky sex?

No point wasting your time in arguing with people who think like that.
What's the point of having strong opinions on an issue if you're physically unable to justify them to others that don't think your way?

Why should they vote? What do they know about money and life.
What does the statement "you don't know about life" actually mean? It's the vaguest argument against anything I've ever seen.

The age of consent and adulthood should be 20. At 20, people should be allowed to vote, drink, have sex, buy property and participate in adult activities.

    For me, it is

    Child: 0 - 12 years
    Teenage: 13 - 19 years
    Adult: 20 years and above.

I know this will not be popular, but it is my opinion.
It's interesting isn't it? I've been working on something this week with a group of 16-22 year olds, and what we agreed was that there seems to be a period of limbo at around 16/17 where various different companies charge a mixture of adult and child rates. It almost seems to be that companies now set the boundary between adulthood and childhood. But what we also agreed was that there shouldn't be just a straight switch between the two were suddenly someone becomes an adult and can do loads of things. A smaller version of that exists today @ 18, but not on the same scale as you are describing here!

Their brains aren't fully developed (MAJORITY) but think it is, they just listen to everything that others say rather than their own voice, imagine 16 year olds voting in election, they'll vote socialism by miles, just thinking high taxes = better off

That is one of the best suggestions, but some kids at age 12 can have a high iq but not the maturity, but put the iq level too high and some mature enough adults will never be able to reach it. Additionally, a correct iq test is difficult to be done. You can get free ones online but they all said i was in the 180's which i am clearly not that clever but probably clever enough to pass the limit as i have a higher iq than a majority of my class mates, but i am underage for everything. Plus the only reliable test is a stanford bennet test which have to be taken individually and can cost a lot and when would they be given? sit them at the same time as sitting sats? gcses? alevels? at a certain age? if that is the case then you are already setting a minimum age by giving them at a certain age but stopping the people with a lower intellegence that they cannot.
if some were to fail, they could retake later on but are expensive, so poorer people could not afford it. so in long shot, if youre thick and poor you cannot have children.
I only put it out there. It wasn't a genuine manifesto-style promise. The principle is good. Like maybe a DVLA style theory test for parenting, to get rid of those utter muppets who seem to have children.

I'm actually worried about the number of young anti-immigration supporters in working class areas, the problem is more widespread than it first appears, and people will certainly be tempted in that regard by parties like UKIP!

    Interesting...

I think you'd be surprised how many staunch anti-immigration/effectively UKIP teens there are in the northern council estates.

What sort of questions would you want on one of those? Parenting methods are a bit subjective, and different stuff works for different kids to an extent.

I can't believe how many are voting thinking that the age of consent should be increased. Hate to break it to you, but people are already having sex before they reach the current age of consent, 16, with many at my school having sex at 14, if not younger. It would just mean an increased number of kids "breaking the law", even thogh they're mature enough to do it.

I don't like the idea of an "age of consent", as it suggests that below this specific age, your consent doesn't mean anything as you have no idea what you're consenting to. But I hardly think that's the case.

Having said that, I would support a minimum age at which one is allowed to have sex (just like there's a minimum age that you can drink, drive, watch certain films etc. I don't think the issue is that you can't consent to it because you don't understand it, but simply that you have no right to do it because you're too young.) The reason we need this is because, by having sex, you are risking the possibility of bringing new children into this world, and you have to be mature enough to handle that responsibility.

I'd say that in this country, 16 is a reasonable age limit to set. This is the where compulsory education ends, where a person gains the right to work and earn money, and therefore the minimum possible age where a person can say "if having sex were to result in the birth of children, my partner and I would be perfectly capable of fully assuming the responsibility of raising those children ourselves".

I think it's because the scenarios depicted in pornography can give people an unrealistic view of how sex works in real life, particularly for someone who hasn't been involved in it yet.

    Probably the best response yet
I agree with this. I voted for 15 though.

Something like: "Would you love your child in the same way that you love your boyfriend/girlfriend?"
    or:
    "Would you murder your child?"
    or:
"Which one of the following items would you keep in the same room as a child?
    a. a machette
    b. a sex toy
    c. a hand grenade
    d. a bottle of milk"
    I can go on...

I understand the, "my body, I can do whatever I want with it" and the "different people mature/are ready for sex at different ages and times." However, just on an educational stand-point I would have it at 18.

We live in a world where the more education you have under your belt, the more money you CAN earn or the amount of doors that can be opened. However, if people want sex they will have sex. Thus, would make a rule that each case is studied thoroughly enough (as possible) to tell if it was consensual, rape, taken advantage etc.

It's just an Idea *Hides way*
