I'm from the US where almost everyone has a roommate - and although you do hear some horror stories, for me personally it was the best experience. my roommate was amazing - we ended up rooming together my sophomore year too, and we would have roomed again except I'm doing general course and studying abroad but we plan on getting an apartment together when I return. So don't worry too much - most of the time it works out well.

I have received a reply from the accomodation office and they gave me a sharing room at Roseberry ! How odd is this ?? I wanted a single room but oh well let's pray my room mate isn't some kind of weirdo.
