There are normally two (sometimes three) teams at college level, of varying levels of skill, competitiveness, and suchlike. There is likely to be a team in which people most get together to play for fun (rather like the Trinity third pool team which I am a proud member of).
Cool...cos it'd be nice to play rugby...just not at a high level...cos i fear for my bones....

What's do you reckon that'd be like then??? Would it be like....a bunch of stall set out...and you walk around and sign up for stuff???????

Yes. It's MASSIVE (as are the queues - get there early...). You will find you have a trillion emails in your inbox for the rest of that term if you're lucky, or the year if you aren't. Most of it you won't even remember signing up for... (I ended up on the Trinity College Amnesty International list, for some reason  )

I'd play rugby if i was any good at it - that's the only part which puts me off: I'd probably suck if I tried it.

You will need to be good to very good to get onto first teams, but you don't have to be very good to get onto other teams (in some sports there are even beginners teams). I played for the college's third pool team, and I would have said that I was a decent but inconsistent player when I got that placement. There was a fourth pool team, for which almost anyone got a place on - the only person I know who didn't get onto any team is completely inept, and his trial was the third time he had every played pool. I gather that it isn't any more competitive at other colleges - as a matter of fact we came second in the third division and were promoted .

I'm afraid I haven't a clue what the level of tennis played is, but just remember that it can't hurt to go to the trials.

    Badminton!

It's indoors, friendly(ish) and non-lethal but can still give you good exercise... what more could you possibly want!

Play pool. You can eat crisps, drink beer, and play pool at the same time.
