Im dreading results day, does anyone know how important GCSEs are in the grand scale of things? are they a massive part of university applications?

cheers
Although it's already been addressed they are not a major factor in university admissions. Maths, english and (for some courses at some unis) foreign languages are the ones to worry about.

A number of universities may gave GCSEs very slight considertation. However, the unis that do use it as a strict filter from some courses include Durham and, if the rumour is to believed, LSE.

Don't forget that A-level subjects, predicted grades, personal statement (and dedication to subject), work experience (where applicable) and reference are, generally speaking, more important.

Anything from not very (a C in English and Maths) to VERY (several A*s at Oxbridge/LSE etc. and As in Sciences for Medicine)

Really does vary.
LSE possibly (rumoured but never confirmed) not Oxbridge though.

I got an A for German in year 9, and then 4 A*s and 6 As in year 11.

And if you guys think you're worried now, just wait until your A level results day. Oh my. :sadnod:
