I've not managed to save much - I put £400 in a post office savings account when I was 13 and left it there... so it's that and whatever interest it gained.
wow you were thinking about uni when you were 13 ...i was thinking about dropping out of school

Well, I've got £0 saved for uni.

Oxford accommodation is ~£3000 - my loan should be just short of £4K, so I'll have like £1k (plus overdraft, but my mum's told me not to use it...) + £200 a term off my mum to survive on.

Plus there's the £500 off the government :p: And I think I might just qualify for a few hundred as an Oxford Bursary.

I'm not saving, I'm just going to spend as little as possible - which I find quite easy to do. Hopefully I won't get into trouble. I do have a savings account set up by my grandma when I was born, but I don't get that til I'm 21 so that won't be until towards the end of uni anyway.

I only have just over £200 saved up o_O

I should be able to increase that to just over £300 by the time I start Uni but I don't see that getting me much, really

I'm gonna have to get a job when I go.

Building boys stuff. I'm gonna learn to weld hopefully. Also gonna go on a few trips, cycling stuff like that. I enjoy the freedom of having nothing that needs to be done.

I have nothing saved...in fact I owe money

I'm working like mad over summer though with overtime practically everyday so hopefully I can go to Uni with at least a couple of hundred. I'll be living off my loan, overdraft and the money I get from a job. Luckily I can be a sensible spender when I want to be..

Some of the amounts people on here have saved up are crazy.

Once this following years bills are paid and the base essentials are acquired (New Passport, Books on reading list, specialist clothing for course..etc) I should have between £2,250 - £3,250 available for Uni. I am pretty fortunate as I have several family members who have in the past pledged to help me with course fees and course material fees if need be (I accepted the offers, but didn't claim any of them yet), So I could probably get another £500 or so.

I am also eyeing up all the bursaries I will be potentially eligible for and will try my best to stand a chance at getting some of them, hopefully I will get a further £500 - 1k or so from that.

What I'm doing is saving as much as I can. I'll hopefully have nearly enough for accom, so I can live off then loan in the first year so I can focus on my studies and such. Hopefully my dad will help me out with the rest of the rent, and I'll have £550 a month to live on via my loan, and what I don't spend of that, I'll put away for next year.
