radiohead's ok computer, quite simply coz its the best album ever.

..and all that could have been by nine inch nails, just because im gonna hazard a guess that you probably haven't heard them before, they are super awesome and it'll broaden your music tastes, which is something you've said you wanted.

if you are feeling brave, give slipknot's debut album a try too, lol. one of the only decent nu metal albums.

I'll recommend some bands - as opposed to songs/albums, but don't let that detract from them - listen to them.

    Radiohead
    Belle and Sebastian
    The Cure
    The Smiths
    Joy Division
    New Order
    Bob Dylan

Some other stuff - mostly more recent etc.

    Arcade Fire
    Band of Horses
    Okkervil River
    The Thermals
    Spoon
    Animal Collective
    Panda Bear
    Los Campesinos!
    Sigur Ros

    Jonny Cash - Anything (Country)
Kate Bush - The Whole Story (Pop with crazy vocals)
    Manu Chao - Anything (Latin)
Metallica - Anything but Load/ReLoad/St. Anger (Heavy Metal)
Rage Against The Machine - Anything (Metal)

It's quite difficult to give you suggestions when you've not told us what music you like.

    The Smiths.
Twenty odd posters before you obviously read my original thread where I said I like most types of music....

And also the fact I stated I wanted to widen my musical horizons means I dont want people to suggest things I already have, so the type of music I like at the moment is not relevant...

Yeah, I just went for good quality indie/mainstream. Could have really 'widened' her collection, if not her taste, otherwise.
