Partial fractions. I could do them, but they just wound me up.

Statistics for its dependency on arbitrary values and mechanics because I hate models and it only provides approximations.

    Pretty much yyour hole course?
:yep: In the 1st year, yep. 2nd year gave me more applied possibilities, and this year I'm not doing any pure courses! :woo:

Seconded. And analysis is a load of bull.
I'd have thought that was the only thing we could all agree analysis wasn't. :p:

Probably geometry. I just don't enjoy it, it's ugly and messy and doesn't have any of the beauty of proof.

The most popular area to hate so far seems to be Decision, and I can add another tick to that tally. I hate it with a passion!

Yeah, I clicked Quote but nothing in the fields was showing up, so I decided to refresh the original page and the post disappeared before I could copy and paste it, so I just went by what I remembered.

Mostly, I prefer Applied Maths over Pure Maths, but at the same time, I don't mind doing Pure Maths - I find that quite interesting, the only bit I really hate in Maths is Pure Proofs. I just can't get my head around them - simply because I never know how much I need to prove in a proof. I can usually get to the end of a proof, but make assumptions during the way, and I'm never sure whether or not I need to prove those assumptions either, which annoys me. I find Applied far more intuitive too which is why I prefer it.

If you don't consider probability to be part of maths then that's because you don't actually know what probability theory is. Probability theory (when phrased in the language of measure theory) is incredibly beautiful and is one of my favourite areas of mathematics along with analysis and geometry. Thank you Kolmogorov and Lebesgue.

As for areas of maths I dislike... Anything involving lots of calculations. I haven't taken any third or fourth year algebra courses but I certainly wouldn't say I hate that area of mathematics.

Sadly, decision maths still is the same pile of *****.
    What's wrong with decision/discrete maths?
