I'm sure my PS and reference were all good but yeah, despite much arguing with my college's English department, they wouldn't predict me an A (despite the fact that I'd never gotten anything less than an A on any of my essays through my AS year and did end up getting an A in the end, just had a bit of a blip on one exam). Damn you, English!
Would you consider reapplying now you have the A?

No I didn't get an offer I went to Sheffield in the end, but not getting into Oxford was down to my interview rather than my GCSE grades at least!
Nice one, getting an interview is an achievement in itself.

I got a B in history at AS Level, which was one of the 'desirable' subjects for PPE, and I'm at Oxford, so I honestly don't think a B at GCSEs will be an issue.

I know someone who got an offer to Cambridge with AS grades AABB, missed the offer, but still got in. I think he had fairly average GCSEs.

I got a C at AS and managed to get an interview. But obviously nothing came of it. I also had 4 B's at GCSE and a ICT GNVQ "Pass" (Technically 4 C's...). Hope this helps!

It depends on the subject you're applying for, but a B's a good grade, they won't reject you because of it.
Although higher grades at GCSE are preferable, A-Level grades are much more important, and other aspects of your application such as your personal statement.

Ok so i got a B in a language but i want to do a science at uni would oxbridge consider me? assuming i get all A*s in the rest which i hope i will/
yes they will!
i've got a friend who ended up with AABD for AS and he got an offer from them last week..well, after three interviews over a weekend...
they're apparently all very intense but i mean you have to be very clever to even be given an offer from oxbridge!!
good luck to you i'm sure you'll be fine!

really? i had no idea what to do with that ester thing!

My highest grade was a B (admittedly I took my GCSEs many, many years ago) but as long as you meet the matriculation requirements http://www.cam.ac.uk/admissions/unde...ex.html#course it doesn't matter so much what your GCSEs are. Do well in your AS/A-Levels, interview and (if required) any entrance exams and you'll get an offer if you deserve one.

If you're really concerned, ask an admissions tutor.
I've been doing that for months - still not replies
