    I speak english, urdu and a bit of french. People say that hindi(spoken) is v.similar to urdu so I guess I can speak that too!

    Aren't pujabi, hindi and urdu more or less just dialects of hindi though, rather than different languages? Bit like saying you can speak english and yorkshire!

    I think they are different languages. It's a bit like saying you can speak English and German. The words are quite similar but there are still many differences. I'm not Indo-Asian myself but having lived in E.London, I can sometimes tell the difference between say, Punjabi and Urdu.

    The similarity is like between Spanish and Portugese. Whilst some terms are common between all languages (benchod), they're different. And aren't the alphabets completely different?

    You've explained it so much better than me! I weren't sure about using English and German because they are still quite different but Spanish and Portugese is probably the best way of describing it....

    I can speak some russian bulgarian and some french try learning the russian alphabet.I've taught my self
