what's bentley's goal doing there?
jenas' goal in the very same game was a much better finish.
i'd go with cole's goal or johnson's though. Really this competition should be "finish" of the season rather than goal though, Macheda's goal against Villa won them important points after they'd lost 2 on the trot, was by a guy nobody had ever heard of and was an excellent finish as well. I'd go as far as saying it's a goal that possibly won them the title.
Isn't that what goal of the season SHOULD be about?

I saw the first one live. :o:

My favourite one is Carlton Cole's, the build up is top draw and there is real intention with each bass and the final shot, rather than just hoping it dips. Conchesky's goal is brilliant though, I have to admit. :coma:

That said, I'd be gobsmacked if Torres didn't win.

No it's about choosing the BEST goal, not the most important.

but that's also an important part of what makes a goal "best"

40 yard screamers to put you 4-0 up are good, but i'd much rather see my team score a deflection off of 6 players in the last minute to win the match. This is just choosing the best finish, taking a goal out of context of the rest of the match.

I'm split between Johnson and Torres. Glen's was a pleasure to watch, great volley. But Torres' effort was packed with skill, great touch, and to score over the keeper from there was sublime. I went for Torres in the end, for the added skill that was involved in the shot. I tried not to be intentionally biased, but it was a beaut!

I'm going to have to sleep on it. Torn between Fuller and Cole. :coma:

Torres's was just a wild swing which could have ended up in row Z. The same goes for Bentley's and Johnson's which was more of a full back frenzy (jonnyofengland, 2009) sort of goal.

carlton cole for me, cause of the lovely build up. You get plenty of hit and hopes, Torres didn't even look at the goal for his shot

that's because of his incredible awareness that he knows exactly where the goal is, where the keeper is standing and how far he can jump as well as taking into account the wind direction and speed

Torres's was just a wild swing

Wild swings are Aurelios wild swing of his left foot that put the ball on Arshavins foot at Anfield. Not lobbing the goalkeeper on the half volley, whilst on the turn and on the edge of the area.

Torres didn't even look at the goal for his shot
That's because he knows where the goal is. Henry doesn't look at the goal here, but he isn't hitting and hoping.

Still prefer Fullers though.

Even Van Basten would've been proud of Torres's strike there, but Cole's is the pick.

Johnson's was a bit of a wild swing - imo Konchesky's shot is better (more meaning and less fluky) than Johnson's.

If the shot had fired into the stands then everyone would be berating his lack of accuracy.

Why isn't Zaki's volley vs Liverpool there, it was much better than Tuncay's!!
