I am a musician. Music is a part of me, just as much as coffee.

Because.

Do you have to have a "reason" per se? It's just done.

You're not stealing my ideas! I'll give you the briefest of quotes "[...]ears[...]". There.

:erm:

I'll put words into your mouth, then.

"The great SunburnedCactus once remarked that he listened because it made him feel connected to the people. Without music, he had nothing. Dull as a woodlouse. With music, he became the peacock."

Truth.

OK.

I prefer music to the spoken word and hence I listen to music.
It doesn't make a whole lot of sense but I can't think of any other reason than "because I like it".

That's more like it. :p:

I always think it's odd when people say that lyrics are the most important part of a song. Without the rest, you'd just have a poem.

Good lyrics can add a real cherry on top of the musical cake, but most of the time as long as they aren't singing some awful clichéd nonsense I don't really mind.

Lyrics are useful at gigs I find. And when driving it's good to belt them out.

I don't mind clichéd nonsense until it's someone like Coldplay or U2 trying to pass it off as mind-blowing deep stuff. I'm not buying it. :p:

I feel instrumental music can express any number of emotions. Beauty can be found in it's infinite possibilities; it is unbounded by the constraints of the spoken word.

This.

If you listen carefully, there's a lot of anti-Coldplay propaganda whispered in the background.

Yeah, it's just the song I was listening to at the time I posted... :p:
