    Initial reaction: :zomg:
    Secondary reaction: One less Tory...
Well, the enthusiasm for bickering on an overly-moderated forum apparently decreases with age. No worries, though, we are a commie-fighting Hydra – two others will replace me.

Who actually is the barman now?
Personally I think it should become a Cabinet portfolio or something.

Would that mean we'd have a Right Honourable Barman?

I see... (and may I add - 'ouch')

You know... I imagine given a year or so the various strains of the MHoC will make me easily as grumpy as you.
(If it's not happening already) :lolwut:
Failed is a strong word, but I guess Life_peer never was my biggest fan. My time as Speaker was indeed briefer than I had intended it to be, but sometimes that's how it goes. I had a lot on my plate at the time, so being the Speaker of an internet House of Commons was the first thing to go.

Good luck, will be interesting to see a couple of Bills from a non-partisan member! If you do want to get involved again and think of joining the Liberals feel free to drop me a PM, I'm fairly new around here but was recently elected Deputy Leader
Thanks, but I think my economics are probably a little too right of centre for the Liberals.

That being said, I don't really know the current make-ups of each party. They could be entirely different to when I left, so who knows?

    I see your point.

The Tory party's hydra-like qualities always bugged me.

Of course when a lefty is lost they're replaced by around ten others lol

Yep, and maybe even a Shadow Barman.

Think of it as our Chief Mouser to the Cabinet Office.

Unless it's changed recently, it's usually either the Deputy Speaker, or the person who started the thread.

A very interesting suggestion - but isn't it clear that the President should be barman?
Until then perhaps the Speaker should assign an interim barman hehe

It is quite a strong word.
I wouldn't worry about it too much - L_P is known for his... shall we say negativity?

    This. :yy:

In fact I'd almost be tempted to drop the title of President and call our new Head of State the Barman (or Barmaid).

Well Barnetlad was the self-declared barman for as long as I can remember.

Ah okay, well you'd definitely be on the other side of the party to me then but we are a broad bunch. In terms of Members I'm told have been round a while you might know we have MacDaddi (formerly Libertarian) and toronto (formerly UKIP) so it's definitely not all lefties, nor all righties as some on the left seemed to think when they expressed their pleasant surprise at my election!

Does that mean if the Republic Bill is repealed, Elizabeth Windsor has to actually get off her throne and work the bar?

Ooh, I actually think Barlady sounds better thank-you

(Or we could just go for a nice, gender-neutral Innkeeper!)

What about Barlady and Barlad? Or even Barnetlad- Damn. It all circles back to him in the end.

(Liz would be an excellent barmaid/lady)

Anyone surprised that there was nothing in the news marking that today was the 75th Anniversary that War was declared?
Yup I am shocked. There must have been something as there has been a huge build up in tv programmes and events around the nation. I spent a fair amount of time aiding some project to commemorate the war (or rather the people involved).
