arsene rulled out falcao but not cavani..

    #signingconfirmed

Serriously though, anything less then 3 signings and I will go into this season very sceptical of Wenger's ability

Its not even about quality, just numbers.. if you forget players who can cover other positions (walcott as a striker etc) and just take everyone in their best role, then currently we have 1 fit striker, and 2 fit CBs, 2 old players rotating in the CM spot..

Just asking for trouble.. already have injuries to our strikers, but if arteta went out for a while, and then Kos did as well... the team is in a dire position..

Cavani won't happen at all with Ibras injury. The timing is so ****.

There won't be 3 signings, there'll be some unknown player signed for squad depth on dead line day and that's as far as it will go.

let me live in hope /(delusion)

+ agree about cavani.. there were a couple of times this summer that I thought there may be a chance.. the roumered swap+money for giroud seemed to make sense, and the gossip about PSG selling cavani to fund Di Maria also seemed logical.. but now all those are ruled out + the injury, seems thats over.

No one else really top class avaliable now, unless wenger shocks us with reus on deadline day (not going to happen)

Some guy said that Arsenal would be having talks with Falcao possibly loan move.

While I agree Arsenal are a waste of space in the CL and will probably not win it in the foreseeable future, who else deserves it more than them? Everton might have a better mentality to do something special as underdogs but they'd probably just get knocked out. Man Utd clearly a joke. Spurs came 6th.

As pointless and embarrassing as it is seeing Arsenal represent our country in the CL, we're pretty stuck with them, unless they change it top 3 only.
Spurs put a bit of magic last time they were in it and beating the Milan clubs. Although would say they had a better midfield than they do currently with Modric and Bale gone.

Would genuinely prefer United in the CL although they have **** coefficients now so will struggle in a group of death when they come back most probably.

Yeah well it was hardly as piss easy as Porto's CL run in 04 which got Mourinho the chelsea job is it? IF they had played a single decent team (bar a united in transition) Mourinho would be nowhere near where he is today.
So what. Porto actually won the competition and did face a few good teams(Monaco and United) so what's your point here? Plus are you seriously trying to compare the quality of Arsenal to Porto?

Villareal and Roma were not of the quality of Manchester United in the PL Fergie years.

So you use Spurs 'beating the favourites' as justification for Arsenal not deserving a CL spot but say Arsenal beating Barca when they were the favourites is a meaningless result. I'm just holding you to your own standards here.

Quite obvious you got carried away on an anti-Arsenal rant and you're just chatting ****. Pipe down.
LOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO OOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO OOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOL the two are incomparable.

Arsenal lost the match over two legs(albeit in controversial circumstances but 0 shots on target Barca probably would have won eventually)

Lets say Basel deserve a CL spot and provide magic because they beat Bayern munich 1-0 in 2012, despite losing 7-0 the second leg? Yeah amazing. It's just an anti Arsenal agenda when I'm criticizing the fact you never beat the favourites in a tie(not just part of a tie, the whole 2 legs) which Spurs have done and Arsenal haven't done for a long time.

Arsenal already have a huge squad tbh. Just need to add a bit more quality to a few positions (e.g. DM, ST etc).

    huge squad in just numbers..yes.

But when half our team is CAM and forward wide player, we end up thin (like only having 2 actual CBs at the moment)

Chambers count as a versatile CB who can play in more than one position. You have two LBs in Monreal and Gibbs when fit, DM and striker and you're as good as anybody when everybody is back tbh.

Only problem is just whether the setup is good enough to beat the big teams which it's not.

The whole argument is pointless really as every team that qualifies to the champions league 'deserves' to be in the competition. The only way you could say we wasted a CL spot is if we had bottled the qualifier.

even with chambers thats only 3 players able to play at CB

Very risky for a whole season, when one is only 19..

    Im worried jam, worried..

Rumours we've bid for Sokratis Papastathopoulos, backup CB at Dortmund.

Supposedly a quality player in his own right so I'm reasonably happy.

As happy as I am Calum has been called up for England, he shouldn't be. Young English players need to stop being fast tracked into the senior team and be given time to grow, because when they don't hit the ground running, they get slaughtered. Couple good games and you get a call up, state of English football.

the state of the squad thats just been named is depressing, or it would be if I actually cared. you can't do much when you have hodgson calling the shots though.

Sokratis Papastathopoulos- Greek international Borrussia Dortmund Centre Back. He's got some great physicality about him.

Know it's late news but we've put a bid in for him according to SSN.

Can't wait to see Paul Merson try and pronounce that...
