For the past couple of years, I will admit, I did have a slideshow of Oxbridge pictures as my desktop background.

    What's wrong with that?

Why would you be unhappy in a uni that's not Oxbridge? People are intelligent elsewhere...

What's bull****? Someone going to do... Lets say Nuclear Engineering at Imperial, does that.mean they aren't passionate and are bad nerds? No.
Maybe, but they're not good enough compared to a Cambridge engineer. They didn't get into Cambridge, did they? They didn't do well in interview.

No one goes to a uni to fit in. They go to study a subject they enjoy and learn about in great depth. They go to a uni that offers modules they like, that has societies they'd like to take part in. They don't choose one based on who else will be there.

You wouldn't fit in Oxbridge anyway if you claim to be so unintelligent now...

    PM me please
Part of the reason I'm so excited for Oxford is that I will (in theory) be surrounded by people sharing my interests, my passion and my general nerdiness - in other words I will fit in nicely. I hate to call you out mid debate but you're wrong on this. Lots of people choose universities they will feel at home at, and fit in nicely.

Hey guys, I've been with WJEC for years now (since year nine :moon:)

They'll release their boundaries after 8am 15th August I'd say. You'll know when they're uploading because the link won't work...

    Here's the link:
    https://www.wjecservices.co.uk/MarkT...ault.aspx?l=en
    OMGTHNX
    that's really useful

also if it helps anyone here's a link to the grade boundaries thread
    http://www.thestudentroom.co.uk/show....php?t=2312329

    and a nice picture

imsoacademic if you read this, apologies for being blunt in my last post 'cos I get that you're probably upset around now, but I think you may have a slightly distorted view of oxford and the academic world. and distorted views are kinda my thing, I get them all the time in other areas.
you are an academic, and you've decided that you're not as clever as some.. but chin up, If you look, I'm sure you'll find plenty of people like you to hang out with.

Not natural in any sense of the word I can fathom. Disappointment is one thing, but denying all your 'self worth' because one or two universities out of hundreds don't want you is ridiculous. There are many things worse to get through in life.

Heh... my bad, I didn't realise people were doing that. I mean if they felt it privately then fair enough but The Student Room isn't the place to be questioning your self worth tbh...

Indeed and I'm thinking it'll be both really, I might still have a chance though as I'm hoping the examiners saw more in me than I did
    But anyways you've got 100 in M1 and C3

I used to have my planned college as my computer background for motivation during exams. I also club and get drunk regularly. Where do I fit in your mental cataloging of types of people?

Or they didn't apply to Oxbridge because Nuclear Engineering isn't offered straight there, and they were so passionate about it, they had to go there to do it.

They could have gone to Cambridge bur chose not to.

I think you have to realise, people will be intelligent and passionate on certain courses above a certain rank of uni. Russel Group. Not just Oxbridge. Academic courses + RG = Intelligent and Passionate people imo

I don't disagree with that, but isn't the actual course the main factor?

Is it a coincidence that virtually every Oxbridge person was extremely intelligent and heavenly and just ever so amazing?

That's not distortion, that's my experience. I've spoken with real Oxbridge people.
