Its your whole application. The supporting questions should tick off a lot of the criteria, but yeah your previous jobs and what you described there can also count towards points, your education too. Basically, whatever was on the person specification, you needed to try and write something about that somewhere in your application.
Ahh that is reassuring so thank you. I was worried that the supporting questions didn't necessarily allow me to dwell on some aspects that I felt impotant.

Finally, do they release your shortlisting scores at the same time or as they have been read and judged?

Well done and congratulations to everyone who made it through to the next stage, seems I am the only one who didn't. Good luck to you all with the next stage.

S***!!! I did not realise this was how it worked, oh well, no point in worrying now, had best get applying for other stuff rather than putting too much hope into this now though!

Congrats everyone! How many do they 'longlist' or do we not know? Also, I noticed that in previous years candidates were shortlisted out of something like 65 points or so - does anyone know how that works?

Hi, I had an interview for Biochemistry last year and got 58/69 for the shortlisting. I was shortlist unsuccessful for Genetics, I scored 43/69. I'm not sure what the minimum is for an interview.

I didn't actually see my scores until the very end when the interviews were over.

Does anyone know if getting longlisted is predominantly to do with the test? And will that now be discounted for the shortlisting?

longlisting is only about test score. They haven't even looked at your application yet. If you are longlisted, you have passed the test, that's all it means.

Hey! Longlisted for Clinical Biochemistry and Haemotology, so relieved! I've looked for the answer but couldn't see it so forgive me if it's already been said but does anyone know how many people get through from longlisting to shortlisting?

They shortlist 3 people for each place (plus one reserve). So the score required to get shortlist will vary - going off the chart a few pages back it'd probably be very high in haematology (~140 applications per place) and a lot lower in medical physics (~10 applications per place).

Hi there! Congrats on being longlisted. I have also applied to the same two specialisms and was wondering what experience/qualifications you have out of interest? I am really not sure I stand a chance but have applied anyway.

Hi, I am working at the moment and my contract will expire soon. I have nothing planned if this does not work out. Perhaps I will apply for other jobs.. Just feel a bit lost as I dont know where or which jobs to apply for, as all I want to be is a medical physicist.
    (Original post by Icandoscience)
Well I actually already work in medical physics! Mostly in radiation protection.. But I'm thinking of making the switch to radiotherapy if I can. I'm not holding out much hope but if I don't make it this time will just use this year to gain a bit more experience. I'm applying to become a clinical scientist as I'm in a bit of a career progression hole at the moment...
    Congrats on the longlists guys.

    congrats everyone !!!
    2 questions
    1) is there any chance they will tell us earlier than the planned date if we are successful for interview - anyone know for last year?
    2) in service applicants - i dont understand this. they are competing for the same position as direct entry? So for example genomic counselling at Guys Hospital, if there is someone already working there in the team and knows the system well why would a direct entry even have a chance?! I get that they have to open the vacancy to everyone but realistically is there any chance? like logically why would they take a new person to start training them from the beginning if both candidates are both potentials?
