Still don't know how Milan ****ed that final up, haha. I have a friend who supports them and the look on his face after the penalties was priceless, should have been about 6-0 up before you scored the first, and then Shevvers managed to miss from a yard out in the 118th minute.
I agree - obviously well done to us for righting back, and it will only be remembered as a fight back.

But you just have to look at Milan.
The best team in the world 3-0 up at half time to a team with only half decent players, playing their worst game of football all year.

So Cesc and Mourinho then. Nice. We develop a player for him to go to Mourinho.
I don't get why you guys hate Mourinho so much?

I actually believe that if Mourinho wasn't as successful nobody would be hating on him as much as they currently do.

Arguably the weakest CL winners ever, Chelsea 2012 probably worse though.
Come on man, there's no need to throw your bias in there.
In terms of player quality, yes we were maybe a little weak, and maybe Chelsea were too.

But it's all about how you use your players; it's very difficult to win the best club competition in the world without deserving it.

Why is there a guy wearing a bandana ffs?

Says a lot that our teams that won it were so **** yet you guys haven't won it.
Always lol when Chelsea fans get so defensive about the quality(lack of) of the 2012 side...

A little weak? Traroe, Baros, Kewell, Dudek, Finnan, Smicer, Cisse werent even knockout quality on paper

Fair play to Benitez though, he was an outstanding knockout CL manager, probably the best in the last 10 years for that.

Beat Juve, the best team in Europe at the time, Milan, the second best team in Europe at the time, and Chelsea, in the season that they got 95 points, making them probably the third/fourth best team in Europe at the time. Even Leverkusen topped their group, beating Real Madrid 4-1 on aggregate in the group stages.

[for a mod before i get done for off topic/trolling like yesterday] So your statement 'with the heights hardly anything to shout about anyway,' is incorrect rubbish.

I think it might be Djibril Cisse.

Always had a soft spot for him, good quick striker. Career shattered by injuries.

I'm not even being defensive. If anything you were getting defensive because SUG put it on you about the mini boom bust cycle.

Everybody knows that 2012 team was ****, it's jokes that we won a double with that team, if we got top 3 we'd have done exactly what the Madrid side this season did that people rave about their quality.

Puts things into perspective doesn't it? You know, Chelsea win a domestic cup CL double, Madrid win a domestic cup CL double, people say Chelsea were the worst ever winners, other people say that Madrid will become unstoppable. Madrid jammed a goal in the 93rd min and spent the whole game defending vs Barcelona in the final, spent the whole game defending vs Bayern at the bernabeu and fluked a 1-0 win there.

Finnan was easily knockout quality, and maybe Cisse. Dudek did his part, good shot stopper. Kewell injury free could have started for Barcelona, although I agree with him not being knockout quality that year, and the rest too.

Man, balotelli would be such a good buy at £25-30m, he's so clinical.

Free kick & penalty specialist too

Don't know how his attitude is now though

Anyone can arbitrarily choose a time frame that makes the other team look bad in comparison...

Well we managed to get the worlds best no. 10, so surely we aren't that unattractive a prospective team? A lot of that is down to Wenger no doubt, but when he leaves we won't be in a Moyes situation on the pitch because of the amount of money he has left in the coffers to spent on transfers, and the relatively youthful nature of our team (both things United didn't get right with Moyes).
Is he really the worlds best no.10?

Or just a very good no.10 when it comes to setting up chances in a specific system? Being when there are runners who try and get behind defensive lines and go for goal directly. Rooney e.g. is a great no.10 when he has to set up chances for himself and for others in a run and cross system. I think Ozil is a system player.

Tbh you don't have that **** of a team with so many suspects, I said that about United though but they've been mismanaged badly if I'm being honest. Really Arsenal have a squad with a good age and a good core, a DM, an RB and a striker is good enough for most people to manage the team, as long as they're not david moyes.

United were in a different situation, although saying that, how you'd do post Wenger is relative to the rest of the league, you're only as good as your best opponent. If United improve majorly and Liverpool sustain their current successful season then it's looking like you could miss out post Wenger, that's not to say you will miss out, but it could potentially happen. Same way Chelsea will miss out on CL next season if we start the season with our current squad.

it would be the arsenal thread without some kind of dispute relating to trophies...

the fact is that "weak" liverpool and chelsea teams won the champions league, and arsenal haven't.
    who even cares?
that is in the past; of course you can remember the glorious times, but football only moves forward and to you arsenal fans, just look forward and win the CL next season if you're gonna cry so much about it.

That goes to Atlético Madrid fortunately. It's not like you were 1min away from winning the european cup and the champions league and manage to lose it.(peak on their lives tbh)

Leeds United also go on about the european cup that's really theirs too.

At the time of us signing him he was for me. No better assister in Europe in the last 4 years. Yes players work better in different systems, and you have to build a front three around Ozil to get the best out of him, not doubting that argument.

I don't mean in terms of circumstance, I mean in terms of ability.

Surely Bayern Munich have the honour then?

Bayern in 2012, na because they were whipped by Dortmund, were like 8 points behind them. The 2012 team(not the 2013 Bayern team btw) probably were weaker than Manchester United's 09 team. They were missing Martinez and Dante who improved the side a lot. Atlético pretty much had their hand on the cup, Bayern still had another 10 or so minutes to go.

Atlético came off the back of winning La Liga in a race where the two previous winners had won it with 100 points, a side that was able to beat a side with probably the best winger duo in history.

With terms of ability, well you know what I feel about the Arsenal 04 side. Juve did the same thing a few years ago and they've just come off the back of a 102 point season in serie A. Doing very well in the league doesn't mean you have a team capable of winning the CL, just look at United.
