Just a quick question, when determining whether or not the grade boundaries, are on average, lower than usual, do you look at the UMS or Raw Marks? Also, if someone could take the time to reply with how to calculate it, then it would be much appreciated. Thank you.

How do you guys feel this year's grade boundaries for Edexcel unit 5 compared to those of previous years? I can't seem to remember the grade boundaries were for this particular module.

If you're on AQA then you can use this to calculate it:

One day to go to results!! I hope you're not all feeling too nervous, I remember this day like it was yesterday (it was actually ten years ago. That makes me feel very old).

Just remember, if you don't get the grades you need, you can go through Clearing. I went through Clearing for my degree and ended up at the BEST uni (Huddersfield) and got a degree doing exactly what I wanted to do. It felt like the end of the world when I didn't get the grades I needed, but a couple of phone calls later and I was all set to come to Hudd!

And if you get super awesome amazing grades, it's well worth looking at adjustment, you might get in to a uni you'd never considered before!

Whatever happens, GOOD LUCK http://instagram.com/p/c_bXzCLjmr/ :-D

Thank you! how did you work it out?
Look at the boundaries above and below where you are.

e.g. you guess 48 for the first one, that's above the B boundary (44) and below the A boundary (49).

So you see the boundary is 5 marks apart, right? And your 48 is 4 marks into that boundary. So you were 4/5ths of the way to an A.

Now look at the UMS boundaries - in this case the B boundary (44) translates to 63 UMS and the A boundary is 72 UMS. 72 - 63 = 9 so the boundary is 9 marks wide.

    Take four fifths of those 9 marks - 0.8*9 = 7.2

Add that difference onto the lower boundary (63) giving you 70.2 - so around 70 UMS.

Basically you're working out how close you were then translating that to the other boundary, then rounding.

This only works for grades between E and A - above or below the scale differs.
