There's no outcome today that would change the fact that the whole WORLD has been able to see that we've needed a striker and a CM/DM for over a year now. There's no excuse for needing to do any business on the last day. We should've had these deals wrapped up in July.

Something at Arsenal needs to change.

£18mil for Welbeck? I would be dying with laughter if you paid that. Just get Defoe.
£18m is a very fair price all things considered.

If it is 18 mill that would make him our third most expensive transfer after ozil and Sanchez

Well he is English so he'd command an 18m transfer fee. Cant stop laughing tbh, I don't want Welbeck to go but for 18m? Hell yeah.

    LOL

Sky have just said there is no deal in place and Danny Welbeck has not had a medical.

Meanwhile Wenger is busy refereeing a charity game in Italy.

    This is actually hilarious.

Yes, we shouldn't be in this position, but we are, so suck it up. Instead of wallowing in self-pity you should try to make the most of what you do have, instead of crying about what you don't. Terrible, terrible fan.
Lol, okay so I should just have my head in the clouds and expect everything to come good like you right? No. Reality is we have massively messed up another window. It's indefensible really, crying about what we don't have and haven't had for several years now. Shameful that some will have no issue with this.

I need to assure you I'm not wallowing in self pity because I predicted this type of thing to happen. Whilst everyone was doing backflips around the Emirates over Sanchez I was still adamant that we needed a ST and DM.

I guess I'm a terrible fan because I have more ambition than you who would just want to finish 4th again.

Why isn't that realistic? We need a WC ST and DM. Cavani wasn't happy at PSG and was looking for a move away. Bender may have taken some doing but if Arsene liked him so much he would have tried a lot harder to strike a deal. Listen to Tim Payton, listen to the AST they see the books, they know the finances and know that we could afford players of that calibre.

We are The Arsenal aren't we? We aren't this poverty club no more, we are filthy rich and the more money we make the less of an excuse it becomes.

He got Sanchez and Ozil didn't he? He put enough effort into buying players we didn't actually need, surely he can do the same for those that we must have.

Cavani was somewhat realistic but his price tag is too much for the quality tbh

    Bender would never have happened

The difference is that Ozil and Sachez weren't wanted by their clubs and Wenger was ready to give them some love. That's why Khedira, Sneiderlain, Nastatic, Welbeck, Remy and Negredo were much more realistic targets and I think if we got 2 or 3 of them we would be in a strong position

Poor imagery, you guys need Waitrose not Marks and Spencer

Welbeck is a poor striker imo, I've watched him for years at United, for some reason he just doesn't score goals.

I'd liken him to a utility player, he's a jack of all trades but King of none

Why isn't Joel Campbell being given a chance as the main striker ?
I don't know what's happened to Campbell. Must be disheartening seeing Sanogo play ahead of you after you just have a very good season and World Cup. Was talk earlier of Benfica wanting him.

We have the cash, Cavani could have happened. Like I said, Bender would have involved some actual effort, but everyone has their price. When you need someone, value doesn't need to be the dominating factor in the decision but rather if they will do the required job.

So essentially the only quality players we can buy are the one their clubs don't actually want?! Great!
