After Gerrard's assessment of his int'l career ("6 or 7" out of 10), I just asked Ibrahimovic the same question. Answer? "Ten" Obviously ...

We don't need to keep possession more than the other team, we just need technical players capable of doing something with the ball in midfield, which clearly isn't the case...

Some of these call ups have been ridiculous though. But it's a friendly and you don't use your best teams in friendlies obviously.
Haha. I said after the Poland match and not in the build up to the Sweden match.

Zaha was called up against Sweden. But I'm guessing you point was about all the players being based in England, in which case yeah.

You'd think that the lack of English players playing abroad would inhibit development, but then Spain have shown that it's not really needed. But is that just because their squad is mostly made up of players from two teams?

Fraser Foster was in the last squad and plays in Scotland. Though I do realise that doesn't really count either. Other than the 4 or 5 who went to Madrid a few years back there hasn't really been any English players playing abroad this century.

Should be an easy victory tonight, hoping for lots of goals.

I want to see England play without that cautious restraint that has become a hall mark of England under Hodgson. I want to see them come out of the blocks like they want to win, and play like that until the whistle, not back off at 70mins and spend the dying minutes defending their own box. No excuse against a team like San Marino.

As has been said, its really a no win game. You win by a margin you did okay, you concede that is a overbearing concern, anything else become a nightmare.

Playing the whipping boys tonight, no reason why we cannot pull off a goal-fest like Germany and score 13 goals (we're going to be in San Marino's half for large proportions of the game, no excuses England).

Apparently the team tonight is: Hart, Walker, Smalling, Lescott, Baines, Oxlade-Chamberlain, Lampard, Cleverley, Young, Rooney, Defoe.

    Walcott gone home, injured.

Yeah San Marino are probably going to set up shop in their own box, Lampard is the king of deflected 20 yard drive.

I think it's more likely that he's being rested for the much tougher test against Montenegro on Tuesday

How have you come to that conclusion exactly? Gerrard has been pretty awesome over the last few weeks.
