Feel like I've made loads of stupid mistakes now. An extra 10 minutes would have made a big difference

In physics, a field is a physical quantity that has a value for each point in space and time. Source: Wikipedia
Yeah, pretty sure you can say 'waves/vibrations' as well since waves are just synchronised oscillations of fields

I put dark matter. I think the Big Bang caused the expansion but they don't know why it's accelerating hence dark matter?
I put dark energy. Not sure im right though.

What did you guys put for the test to see if it emitted beta as well?

can't remember it was work function / stopping potential.

I think around 22? Idk - it was in the 20s
    I got 27

Idek , I put that in brackets though and said 'some' in words, because I couldn't remember the exact number
I thought it was 2000 lmao, swear that's what it says in the textbook

I said put a 3mm aluminium sheet to see if the count rate decreases

What did people get for the penultimate question on Astro? (the distance to the Quasar) I think I had something like 2.14 x10^14 AU but I may have remembered wrong
    yeah i got same

i said move it further away past the range of beta. If the count rate drops then theres beta if not then no beta is emitted

    wbu?

I don't think that'd get marks because those two things can't exactly have a phase relationship
    probably not .

" Expressions for the electric and magnetic fields in free space contain the electric permittivity ε0 and magnetic permeability μ0 of free space. As indicated in the section on electric and magnetic constants, these two quantities are not independent but are related to "c", the speed of light and other electromagnetic waves."

I said plot a graph of count rate against 1/r^2 and it should be a straight line if it is only gamma, but if it is beta it will not be a straight line.

    This better be accepted

I put same and said can achieve same effect by using 5mm of aluminium

is it just our class in the whole of the UK that does medical physics?
I was the only one in my school to do it as I learnt it myself because the teacher we had for astrophysics was awful. This year's paper was hard. Do you remember your answers to any of the questions?

The count rate is going to drop when you move it further away regardless of whether there's beta emission or not.

I put dark energy. Not sure im right though.
Dark Energy is responsible for the acceleration of the Universe's expansion. Although no one has any idea what it is so the question was a bit odd really as no one knows why expansion is accelerating.
