And going back to the OP, surely loads of US politicians are openly 'Zionist'? After all, AIPAC is one of the most powerful pressure groups there are.
Or am I referring to pro-Israel? Is there a difference?
(I'm really interested in Middle Eastern affairs, I've just never been taught it...)

There is no difference. What people fail to understand is that most of those Jews who refuse to serve in the west bank, who treat Palestinian children and fight for Palestinian rights... most of them are Zionists, ie, they support the existance of a Jewish state called Israel. Problem is that many anti-Israeli's took the most extremist fringe of Zionists and painted all Zionism as such, in order to delegitemize the essence of Jewish self-determination.

Zionism, similarly to every national movement, or even religion, is a basic belief. It can be interpeted in many ways and people can act in verious ways in its name. Islam, for instance, is a religion. Some people can act positively in its name, while others might commit terror. There are bigots who say 'Islam is a terrorist religion', basically painting all Muslims as their extremist fringe.

But national movements can also be treated in the same way. There are pacifist zionists, religiouse zionists, socialist zionists, capitalist zionists. People who paint all Zionists as its fanatical fringe are no better than the anti-Muslims I presented above. All treat a very wide movement and paint it as its fanatical fringe.

Mr Cameron said: ‘If what you mean by Zionist, someone who believes that the Jews have a right to a homeland in Israel and a right to their country then yes I am a Zionist and I’m proud of the fact that Conservative politicians down the ages have played a huge role in helping to bring this about.’

Well he is of Jewish descent after all; a descendent of Emile and Elijah Levita in fact, and of William IV who also has Jewish ancestry. Nothing spectacular really. Afterall, the royals and the political elite in this country are Zionists. Queen, Brown, Milliband, Blair, all of them are Zionists and very possibly are of Askhenazi Jewish stock, or maybe Sephardic - who knows?

It's brave of him to declare it. I can only think of one politician who has of recent declared his Zionism and that was Joe Biden the U.S. senator.
    where is your sig from?

Why is it brave of him?
Everyone's so self concious about being pro-Semitism (they're bending over backwards not to appear anti), so he's not going to get death threats if he 'admits' to being a Zionist...?

google or youtube it for yourself you will find tons and tons of hits. Because the internet is not owned by independent people whereas the media is biased and always in favour of jewish people because most people who own it are jewish or have to say good things about the government.

Zionist thinking is like Jews are better than non jews. Or killing palestinians because their not "gods chosen people" or the fact that many jews believe gentiles (non jews) are like cattle.

They have a site on the internet called jewish internet defence force. It takes down sites which are pro muslim/anti-zionist. The JDL are considered a terrorist organisation by many and have many murders to their name 2nd in the US. However obviously its only muslims who can be terrorists.
Surely not all Zionists think like that? I thought Zionists believed that Jews should return to their homeland and live there, that Jews should have their own homeland without interference of others..

I didn't know about the JDL :/ But no, there can be other terrorists.. and like you said, one man terrorist is another man's freedom fighter.

You and sinbad23 seem to be giving me conflicting points of view I think?

Can you be Christian and a Zionist? As in sympathise with Israel? Whilst also be impartial with the whole Israel/Palestine thing?

Yes. A Christian and a Muslim can be Zionists. Basically anyone who supports the Jewish state's right to exist is a Zionist. That is why I gave you the example of Israeli doctors without borders and human rights activists who fight for Palestinian rights yet are still Zionists, because Zionism is a very basic belief. People who try to paint it as its fringe either don't know what it is or are trying to delegitemize the Jewish state itself. It is no different than people who claim Islam, for instance, equals terrorism. They are doing the same thing, equating a belief with its extreme fringe.

As it happens Im a zionist.

His parents were both, he is not Jewish, thus he must be Polish and therefore must share Nazi ideologies.
    You can have Polish Jews...
