Has anyone managed to open the link they have sent us in letter?
I have applied for Interior Design, received the letter from GSA (Jesus, I can't believe it!), but there's something wrong with this web...
    I'm getting worried...

Hey, I was wondering for people with interviews, (this might be just for Painting applicants) when they ask for 10-15 pieces of work in an A1 folder, do you think they are wanting to see more individual resolved pieces at this stage, or are you going to put in a great deal of preparatory/sketch stuff as well?

I ask because '10-15 pieces' sounds like quite a limited selection, so maybe they wanted to see more of what you think are the best of your more polished pieces, as they saw a lot of sketchbook/prep/research work at the mini-portfolio stage.

Considering it's a pretty low number i'm guessing they mean fully resolved pieces. Most of my work is too large to take so i've got photos presented in plastic sheets, dunno if their wierd with those like some unis are. Still i'm taking sketchbooks too, what they've suggested is just a guideline really.

Got my interview booked for the 15th at half 1, BOOM! Excited!

Hey, I just noticed today on their site for portfolio guidlines that they say 'mount of card, plastic sleeves are not necessary' All my stuff was going to go in sleeves but now I'm not sure. I called them to ask if this implies they preferred you not to use them and the person at the Registry just said 'yes', wasn't very responsive to be honest, but I think I might consider not using sleeves at all..

That's probably not a problem. I was at an interview for sculpture/enviromental art about 2 weeks ago and since I flew from Sweden I couldn't bring mounted pictures, and not in a big A1-folder either.
I just had in an A3-folder, and that was not a problem at all.

It might be different depending on what course you're applying for though, don't know.
    Anyway, good luck!!

I'm applying to GSA for fine art painting and printmaking and had my interview a couple of days ago. they were really really nice - i had to wait in a corridor for 15 odd minutes while they looked at my portfolio without me. then i went in and they asked me to choose a piece of work to talk about - which led onto questions about themes in my work, processes, the importance of drawing etc...

it was more like a chat really than a proper interview, it was really relaxed.

my portfolio had 15 A1 pages in, but most of those had a couple or 3 things mounted on them. i also brought in 5 sketchbooks and a folder with about 12 examples of life drawing in - they looked at all of them and didnt complain. i think the 10-15 pieces is just a guideline.

i came out feeling really positive about it - but they said i wont find out til early april! so that sucks!

Anyone here applying for second year vis com?
How many pieces are you taking with you?
I have 17 pieces so far, but there are some duplicates because I specialise in printmaking/collage, so out of the 17 I only have 5 final pieces, the rest is just developmental work, I'm very worried.
Of course I have lots and lots of work from my A-levels but my style changed in the last couple of months plus it's mostly painting/stuff not relevant to illustration or graphic design.
    IT'S ALL SO STRESSFUL!

Just got in from my Panting and Printmaking interview, went areet i think, they recognised me from applying last year haha, embarrassing. Both of the blokes interviewing were really relaxed, the questions they asked seemed to be tailored to my work in the sense that they just interjected as i explained themes and processes and stuff. They said i should have a reply by mid April, so fingers crossed!

Oh and to anybody worrying about the presentation of your portfolio, i really wouldn't stress. I took three smallish canvases and three large scale works rolled up, a few boards as well as the 'required' A1 folio with photographs of installation work and life drawings... and sketchbooks haha. They said they didn't mind at all, the guidelines on the website are just for the sheer formalities.

I had an interview from GSA for Sculpture and Environmental Art Year 1 about a month ago, and they told me they'd tell me the outcome in three weeks, and obviously that's passed and I still haven't heard anything from them... I think I'm going to get in contact with them next week to see if there's any news. Has anyone else had an interview for this/Has anyone actually had an offer?

They we're really nice and really positive in my interview and said I had a really good port folio etc. Plus all my work was in plastic sheets, apart from 2 sketchbooks, so that doesn't matter I don't think... Just really want to find out now, cause I know everyone's been waiting to hear back for ages! Its so frustrating!

Please post something if anyone hears!

They told me they're not going to send any acceptance/rejection letters until they've seen everyone and they've invited more people for interviews then they originally intended to, so it'll take them a little longer, I wouldn't contact them now, it's still early days and you'll just annoy them, they have a looot of work on their hands right now!

hi! i realized i simply havent asked them many "technical" questions, probably because
i was too scared to hear the reply, but i think i was stupid....
so,has anyone here applied for year 2 direct entry?
maybe even for textiles (but it dont matter much)?
if so,do you know the figures for your course?how many people applied and how many places they have?
...i'm such anervous wreck now,the closer we get to knowing the worse it gets.
suppose it's like this for everyone....
    thanks!
