I'm a straight male. I just can't fathom how people can be gay. I mean, the idea of kissing another man is utterly disgusting. Whenever I see a gay man, I always think of how they'd kiss another man and the anal sex and I mean, it just grosses me out. I don't hate gay people, but I'm very uncomfortable around them.
I really want to get over this though. Any suggestions?
people in this forum love gays. don't expect a realistic suggestion from them. maybe you should start watching some gay porn to get used to it - just how doctors get used to performing surgery despite having issues with blood and gut.

I and I think most people on this forum don't really 'love gays'. We don't hate gays too. We're indifferent to them. We just believe gay people should have there civil liberties protected and treated like any other.

People on this forum love everyone equally I find. I don't think the vast majority actually judges anyone based on their sexuality, religion, skin colour...etc

But I like how you liked his situation to a doctor preforming surgery, never thought of it this way. I am personally not comfortable with seeing two men kissing, but that's just me, I won't go up to them and scream at them, or even give them dirty looks...etc

The vast majority of the people here hate Muslims. I posted in a H & R thread just yesterday about a girl being obsessed with a guy and instantly got attacked, being called a "Qur'an ***** follower" lol! even though nothing in my post even hinted anything about religion!
My situation is the same as yours - not comfortable with homosexual activities, but nothing to scream and shout at others for! Just didn't want to express it (until now) - coz I'd be instantly called a '****ing Muslim', even though religion has nothing to do with this discomfort of mine!

perhaps the main reason why I sensed greater sympathy towards gays here is because the topic of gays usually comes up in threads mostly to do with Islam, and sometimes Catholicism and their position on homosexuality. Since, presumably, most here are atheists and they just need yet another reason to attack religion and all of a sudden love gay people.

But, it really is all about getting used to. I haven't been exposed to homosexual acts, hence my discomfort. Its highly likely if I grew up in San Francisco I'd be indifferent to such things like Annoying-Mouse pointed out.

I very much doubt that people here hate Muslims... There are a few generalising rats around the globe, but that is just minor.

    Uncomfortable = closet homo!
Get with the times, its 2010 not 1950
More gay men means less competition to pull women which makes my life a bit easier, more men should be gay!

Just think.. what if men were to made to kiss another man; and that reproduction is only possible to same sex intercourse. Now wouldn't it disgusting to see a man kissing another woman. Then you should know how it is feel like of being discriminated. It is a matter of perception and cultural indoctrination..

Technically gays are a threat to the human race.
A gay couple cannot have offspring.
If everyone was gay there would be no reproduction and we would cease to exist.

Lots more differences, but let's work with the top one first. Thoughts?
A threat to the human race? A bit melodramatic don't you think. However yes, if everybody was gay the human race could die out (I imagine some people would have vaginal sex anyway for the sake of the human race, but for the sake of argument I'll give you this one), but the fact remains that only around 5% of the human race is gay, and it shows no signs of going any higher, so your point is entirely void.

Besides that just comes back to my original point that the only difference is who we find attractive, that's it. What you've mentioned is just a consequence of that difference, but not a difference itself.

Have you not seen the way that some hetrosexual people act on facebook?
Oh yeah... but they're like 14/15? I don't believe the "they're less developed in terms of their relationships" card can be played. It's bull. Sorry.

it's not like we're trying to shove our Tongues down YOUR throat and our dicks up YOUR arse.

The fact that you're uncomfortable around gay guys shows nothing but the insecurity within yourself either that or you're just from a very sheltered background.

The fact that you label women as all having mood swings and irrational behaviour would seem to imply you simply cannot relate to people that are not exactly like you.

    Good luck.

    "activities" hilarious word choice.

'Oh no I can't do dinner Sarah, my homosexual activities don't finish till 5'

No, they're not 14/15. They are fully grown people in night clubs every weekend gatting smashed out of their brains and posting half naked pictures of themselves with as many different men/women as possible.

Gay people obviously are less develped in their relationships. They have one giant hurdle to go over that straight people dont have to.

kissing a man can only be disgusting if you're kissing an alien-like creature that has bad breath and brown teeth.
be open minded isnt that hard is it?

take a chill pill and drop the psychology bullcrap. there are people from different backgrounds where homosexuality isn't a big wide open thing like it is in british culture. i thought the TS was being far more mature and respectful than how you're making him out to be.
TS, i can understand why someone might be uncomfortable with gay people but it's something you will simply get used to over time, especially because you don't seem like a homophobe or anything. so don't worry, aside from banging the same sex, gay people are pretty much just as different as one straight guy compared to another.
