If someone Googled my full name they'd just find a lot of stuff about an NBC news anchor. Also a lot of stuff about a load of randomers because my name is stupidly common, apparently. If you search it along with my hometown you get the link to my Twitter but it has my old username in the link (so it doesn't point to anything), along with stuff my secondary school posted online about awards I've won.

Searching for my full name returns nothing, but searching for a shortened version returns a picture of me & Loz17 volunteering :awesome: & a website offering to sell people the personal information of the 4 people with my name in the UK & the 2 in the USA

A different shortening comes up with a woman from America, a personal trainer (who I'm pretty certain used to live down the road from me) & a canadian family tree

Searching for even a shortened version of my name with my current/past geographic locations, uni etc. returns only stuff on other people :p: including a facebook profile containing a singular picture of flo rider & nothing else :hmmmm:

I'm not really the sort of person who puts lots of my real information online...so this is thankfully expected :yep:

They find a lot of information on other people with my name.
As above, good luck to them finding anything about me that way, they've got more chance of winning the lottery and then being struck by a satellite as they're being handed the cheque.

I'm pretty confident that all that can be found by Googling my name (+hometown/uni/course) is:
    - I'm a member of Trevelyan College, Durham
    - I have a private blog
    - I'm a member of Conservation and Games Societies
    - my Google+ public profile (anything set to public)
    - my Facebook public profile (name, gender, and profile picture)

So I think it's all fine, as long as my FB picture isn't too crazy when I'm applying for a job, and maybe I should change the privacy on some of my Google+ photos, like that one of me in a dress...

Also searching for my e-mail addresses brings up nothing except Conservation Society. It's quite good that my TSR account doesn't show up at all.

I'd judge them for Facebook stalking me.

Plus, they'd be hard pushed to find me on Google initially as my name is apparently shared by a dead Paralympic swimming legend and a professor.

If they searched high and low, they'd discover my Blog and my YouTube and think "Wow...this guy is awesome".

I apparently suffered from bi-polar and killed myself, causing my parents to create a foundation.

Well, nobody's gonna hire a dead person, even if they are charitable...

If they google me they'll find I'm quite successful; a singer-songwriter, garden designer, photographer, designer. And according to google images, I'm a man with a moustache.

Anyway, I'd rather live my life and be myself online than constantly worry that everything I do may one day be looked up by potential employers. I'm exercising my right to freedom.

That is only if you have used your real name anywhere on the net , if they know any of your aliases/user names or if you have not created an email address purely for registering on that site or job application.

Otherwise they will only be able to confirm the information that is publicly available from the voting register etc.
