What grades did I get?

(A Levels)
English Lang- B
RS- B
History- C
Psych- C

Did you meet your predictions?

I'd hope to get grades a little bit higher but was still pleased with results

If not, are you going to appeal?

N/A

What decisions have you made for further study?

Going to uni, I got into Lancaster to do Linguistics

If you applied to the uni, did you meet the terms of the offer?

No, I needed ABB, but I called up on the hotline and they let me in

What made you pleased, disappointed by your results?
I was pleased I got B in my Eng coursework, I was disappointed by results of A2 RS (AS RS boosted my grade) disappointed by getting an E in coursework for Psych and for failing the Nazi module of History.

if you could do the year again, is there anything you would do differently?

I would probably have started revising earlier, and it would've been nice not to catch the virus thing I got

Could you look at your results or did you get a parent to open them first?

I opened them first and was a bit worried I wouldn't got into Lancaster

What time did you find out your results?

9am this morning, was horrible as could get them from 8:30 but I'd agreed to meet up with friends so me and my friend were just standing there waiting for our friends when we could've gone up

Did you feel nervous?

I was terrified lol

How do you feel now?

A little bit disappointed that I got lower marks than I'd wanted to in RS and that I failed a History module but very very pleased I got into Lancaster

What grades did you get? Four As (English Lit., French, Latin, General Studies), though I slipped up on a few modules and ended up getting two Cs in French.

Did you meet your predictions? I'm not sure what my teachers were predicting for me, but I certainly met my own predictions, and then some. I was absolutely sure I'd got an A in English and Bs in everything else.

If you applied to uni, have you met the offer? I haven't applied yet (I'm taking a gap year), but I've got the grades I'll need for the course I want, which is ace.

What decisions have you made about any further study? Definitely going to Warwick, which is just about the only uni that does the course I want (Philosophy with Classical Civilisation).

What made you pleased/disappointed by your results? Well, I'm thrilled by the overall grades, but I can't help but be disappointed by the Cs I got in French. Still, I have to say that it's not like I didn't deserve to do badly- I did very little work.

Anything you would have done differently in the past year if you could have done them again? Well, you know, I'd like to think that I'd actually do some revision, but to be honest I probably wouldn't bother. I'm pretty thrilled with my results, and can't help thinking that it's just insane good luck, which I can't count on all the time.

Could you look at the results first or did you get a parent to? I opened them; my mother wanted to come in, but I was determined to go in alone. I probably would've taken a lot longer to open them if my English teacher hadn't told me that I'd done really well first, though.

What time did you find out your results? About 10:30. School opened from around ten, but I really didn't want to get caught up in the rush of students.

Did you feel nervous? Definitely; it took me about three hours to get to sleep last night.

How do you feel now after knowing? Well, relieved. Partly in a state of shock. Tempted to jump up and down yelling to the world that I beat the exam system.

What grades did you get?
All A's in AS Chem, Phys & Bio and A in A level Maths.

Did you meet your predictions?
Yes. I botched up the practical in physics and barely answered the extended prose question in a chem paper, so to still get A's in them is pleasing.

What decisions have you made about any further study?

I'm still very confused. I like maths (got 691/700) but not so sure about the careers it leads to. Enjoyed my dental experience and like healthcare too so still kinda up in the air atm. Will drop Physics.

What made you pleased/disappointed by your results?

The positives: i got A's on all 16 modules that I sat this year. Kinda disappointed with a low-ish A in Chemistry (261/300) when its my second favourite subject and i find it relatively easy-- I misunderstood a question and didnt do too well in the practical so it was expected. But that would be nitpicking.
Extremely pleased with Physics, esp Unit 1 and Unit 2 only dropping 6 marks between them. I just cant do this subject very well-- time table clashes forced me into it-- and its been a huge personal accomplishment to achieve a good A grade.
All in all, I'm VERY pleased I dont have to do ANY retakes.

Anything you would have done differently in the past year if you could have done them again?
Spend a bit more time on Chemistry. I seem to spend most time on Bio and Maths.
I think I have better study techniques now and reckon I'll do better next year after my 7 year gap. Bring it on!

Could you look at the results first or did you get a parent to?
Too old for parents! My only reaction was a smiled but thats about it-- this is only the half-way stage! Nothing to get complacent about.

What time did you find out your results?
11am

Did you feel nervous?
In all honesty, hardly. I felt I did enough for A's.

How do you feel now after knowing?

Good I would say. I havent really wasted much time this year and am extremely pleased I wont be revisiting any units.

What grades did you get?:
French A
German A
Law D
History E

Did you meet your predictions?

No, predicted C in history

If you applied to uni, have you met the offer?

I think so, I think the Essex standard requirement is BBC for Modern Languages so I got an equivalent I think

What decisions have you made about any further study?

none really, though there may now be no point in putting some of the better unis down as 2nd and 3rd choices

What made you pleased/disappointed by your results?

Relieved to have got the 'A's I was expecting in French and German, thrilled with the 120/120 in one of the French modules. Disappointed not to have got a C in Law.

Anything you would have done differently in the past year if you could have done them again?:

Revised more for history

Could you look at the results first or did you get a parent to?

I looked at them

What time did you find out your results?

sometime after 11 I don't know exactly, the postman was late arriving at school!

Did you feel nervous?:

I did when I was queing up to get my results

How do you feel now after knowing?

Overall quite pleased, I've not got the grade I wanted in Law but a C is definitely possible with re-sits. Glad I'll never have to do history again!

Overall, AABBa

A2

Geography: A (576/600)

Law: A (515/600)

Psychology (473/600) - 7 marks short of A, having one paper remarked.

General studies (472/600) - 8 marks short of A, can't be bothered with remarks.

A in AS sociology aswell.

Hugely dissappointed, underachieved. I think I obtained the grades I deserved though, in terms of the effort I put in, so I can't complain.

I didn't apply for uni and have a place on a modern apprenticeship so my grades don't matter that much anyway.

What grades did you get? AAAAB(a)- A English Lit, A History, A French, A Engl Lang, B Music, (a) RE
Did you meet your predictions? Almost. Disappointed in the B for Music.
If not, are you going to appeal? Hoping to resit a paper in January for the B in Music to bring it up to an A.
If you applied to uni, have you met the offer? Yes (AAB for Combined Arts at Durham)
What made you pleased/disappointed by your results? Mostly pleased. Disappointed/ quite upset by the B in Music, because I sat it as an external candidate and paid £170 out of my own pocket for the privilege.
Anything you would have done differently in the past year if you could have done them again? Wouldn't have applied for Oxford- would have saved myself the bother. Would have chosen completely different uni choices when applying: I applied for Durham, Warwick, Oxford, Royal Holloway, Manchester & St Andrews. I ended up being so I didn't want to go to any of them apart from Durham. I should have done more research.
Could you look at the results first or did you get a parent to? Went by myself, so I looked at them first.
What time did you find out your results? looked on UCAS track to find out I got into Durham. Went to college at 10.30 approx
Did you feel nervous? Yes.
How do you feel now after knowing? Determined to get an A in Music.
