    I wear all black and look like a hipster-goth at the age of 24. Skinny's and pentagrams etc.

    But I'm also about to join the army and train as an officer. It's about how you carry yourself, not what you wear. As long as you have a smart casual look you can change to, dress however you want.

    17 is so young, you're not expected to look mature.

    To be fair I don't think the tutors will look at you and make a premature judgement about your intelligence, in my experience they were quite accepting of my appearance and weren't surprised that I was smart (I attended my first day of college wearing an inch of makeup, spike heels and a biker jacket)
