I wouldn't say so. The risk is massively increased but 85% of not getting lung cancer is a strong enough chance to me, and not reflected by the public and media hysteria towards the dangers of smoking.
And lung cancer is only one smoking-related disease. 1/2 of all regular smokers will die from smoking related illness.

Clue's in the name? They're humans? Killing another person doesn't make you change species.
It makes you a bit of a **** though.

The risks are as slight for other smoking related illnesses.

Please cite some evidence for that factoid.

We should remove warning labels off things and let the problem of stupid people sort itself out.

    :ninja:
Stupid people and, for example, small children?

I forgot about all the small children going around reading warning labels.

Why? If we're prosecuting them for having no respect for human life and in turn don't respect their lives, that makes us no better than them.

Do you honestly believe that a murderer should have rights? It's such a starry-eyed, idealistic viewpoint.

Removing a murderer's rights, to me, seems such a logical, uncontroversial thing to do. It looks like you disagree. Out of interest, is there anyone here that agrees with me?

Please no. Not the 'Treat-others-how-you'd-like-to-be-treated-and-the-world-will-be-harmonious' argument.

I'm not saying we should let people get away with everything. What I am saying is that it's just complete hypocrisy to persecute someone for a behaviour and then behave in that exact same manner. It's just absurd. Criminals have to be punished but the primary aim of the justice system should be to serve the general good of society rather than allowing people to feel a macabre sense of satisfaction that they're completely ruined the bad guy's life. All of the evidence suggests that a rehabilitative justice system is vastly more successful in actually reducing re-offending rates than a retribution based system.

I can't see anything that supports your claim that half of all smokers die from smoking.

    The Monarchy should be abolished.

Every living President with the possible exception of Jimmy Carter should be tried in an international court for war crimes, as should Tony Blair.

There should be a 'United States of Europe' and the UK should be a part of it.
