During the Cold War i'd have said the USA and USSR in equal measure. Both were expansionist and served their interests to the point that the US fired on a ship transporting British buses to Cuba and screwed us at Suez.

Since the Cold War, Islam has been the greatest threat to world police (or rather Islamic terrorists). Today that still stands however Russia's actions are forcing a chain of events which could lead to proxy wars breaking out.
The two biggest state sponsors of terrorism today are Saudi Arabia and Iran. Saudi Arabia are one of the most treasured allies of the U.S. and without being flooded with U.S. money and U.S. weapons it would not be able to export terrorism on the mass scale it does today. The current regime in Iran came to power after the overthrow of a brutal regime instilled by a British and U.S. coop. The largest terror group in the world exists in the power vacuum left the U.S. and the UK went to war there inorder to protect their economic interests. We could also go into the Zionism, the single biggest cause of tension in the ME and a huge recruitmet tool for Islamic terrorist groups.

Of course it does. When people talk about world peace they mean world peace today. Not world peace 5000 years in the past or 5000 years in the future.
That's pure assumption on your part.

I hear a question like that and I think throughout the entirety of the world's existence.

If the question said "who's the biggest threat to world peace today?" then I would answer differently.

Your idea of peacekeeping is dropping nuclear bombs on innocent civilians, killing thousands of lives?
It wasn't done for no reason, the Japanese refused to end the war, so the bombing was a last desperate measure. Also USA may be been the ones to drop the bombs but it was in collaboration with their allies, so it's unfair to pin this on just them.

So during the time of the annual world peace conference you think that they are all in there discussing how they can achieve world peace in the year 1256? When people talk of erradicating world hunger you don't think they mean world hunger today but world hunger in the time of the Mayan Empire? Do you think that comic relief put the cheque that they write in the post and address it to 900 years ago? You're being ridiculous.

So do people really think that war only got invented at the same time as the US?

How about the c.10,000yrs of human existence before the declaration of independence was signed? Still think it was the US?
No. We think the roman empire is the biggest threat to world peace.

    Nope.

But I do find how selective people in Europe can be over recent post war history.

Americas support in defeating maxi germany. The Marshall plan. Financial support for NATO. Stationing troops in Europe to stop Warsaw pact troops.
Maxi germany rofl. 70% of german casualties lied at the hands of the soviet union. But yes america supported in defeating nazi germany. Keyword : support

    You would be correct.

Are you aware that the Americans financed and equipped the soviets?

We're the soviets involved in a sustained effort in fighting in the Pacific as well?

You do know WW2 wasn't just european don't you? The ckue was in the name?

We're the Russians island hopping through the Pacific whilst also training and equipping chinese troops and fighting in India and Burma?
