Hi, I have also applied to Woodhouse College and UCL. Personally, UCL is much the better option as at Woodhouse the number of students in a class is ridiculous. Some of the popular subjects have 60 students per teacher. UCL seems the better option as it is a STEM school and has got many students into top universities for Science/Maths based courses. I'm planning to go UCL and I would strognly advise the same.

Wow I haven't been on here for a while.

We do complain a lot lol but because they put so much pressure on us. Like if you're not achieving the grades they want you to achieve, in your free lessons you have to be in the study room and you don't get to go out for lunch. UCLA is not the place to go to if you want to enjoy your A levels lool I mean I'm not having the time of my life but I know some people who go woodhouse, they say their teachers don't offer much support... they're left alone. At least in UCLA they offer support, we have mentors, they're like tutors but for free! You just have to book a session with them. The only reason they like woodhouse is because it's a nice place to socialise in (this is just my friend's opinion).

    Good luck

Hey, I go to Woodhouse and there's definitely not a single class with 60 people! Max you will find is around 27 and that's generally with Chemistry but apart from that, the average is around 22 for all the other classes. Some of my friends go to UCL academy and having the time of their lives and others are feeling pretty stressed about the pressure put on them. It's really a personal preference but WH is definitely very academic, they teach you the content like any other school would. However it's up to the student independently take the extra step do well!

If you're considering coming here I'd really make sure that your willing to do a lot of independent study as I'd say this school puts more emphasis on it than most.

Depending on how you do in your first mocks you'll be placed into one of three groups from 1-3 and you'll get certain privileges depending on what group your in. Group 1 are allowed to leave early / come to school late, go out for lunch etc but if you're in group 3 you'll find it's the opposite and that you might have to come to school earlier for extra lessons etc. From someone who's been in both group 1 and 3 id say your experience at the school can really change depending on the grades you're getting, leaving you to feel as if you're treated like a statistic more than an individual which is one of the things I hated most, it leads to things like not being able to go out for lunch with some of your friends or being forced to stay at school when you have no lessons which tbh is just a waste of time as it's easy to get distracted.

There's lots of things wrong with the school but i won't mention them all rn, if you know what subjects you're planning on studying i could give you a lot better taste of what the school would probably be like for you, because it's really different based on your options but feel free to pm me / ask if you want to know more about school / teachers etc
