What is your response to Merkel demanding that Cameron backs an EU army in return for renegotiation?

Whilst I believe the EU member states should be military allies, there is no need for an EU army.

I'd also be amazed if the French would be willing to get involved in that project.

Your not the electorate i was thinking of.

As somebody who supports military action and values our French and Polish allies in particular on military matters i believe that the UK's foreign policy goals are not aided by joining a European army, they are simply too pacifist. I'm not opposed to Euro-zone members going for such a project alone however, it would be a good check against Russia should they ever develop the resolve to act.

a little something for the labourites to sing. feel free to add verses

The people’s flag is deepest blue.
There are golden stars on it too.
And as we see Russia’s might.
For the European Union we will fight.

Then raise the navy standard high.
Beneath its folds we live and die.
Though cowards flinch and skeptics sneer.
We’ll keep the blue flag flying here

Congrats to both members of our leadership, an excellent pairing. I look forward to getting down to researching bits and pieces over the next few days.

Thank you to all of you who voted for me as the campaign leader.

We've got a tougher fight than perhaps we were expecting at the start of term when we promised this referendum, but we do seem to have the force of general public opinion behind us.

Our role as I envisage it will involve a significant amount of rebuttal, as well as building a positive picture of the European Union and its benefits to the United Kingdom.

I do realise that there is a certain amount of mixed opinion within the In campaign, however, as to whether we should increase, maintain or reduce our relationship with Europe. We will need a "broad church" (how sick am I of hearing that phrase in the last few weeks?) approach but one with a focus on the status quo.

I will be in touch privately later on today to discuss where we begin. I have as a list of campaign members the voters in the poll on this thread, and also the list of pro-Europeans who voted in the Labour internal poll. I would appreciate anyone else who would like to support our side, or indeed party leaders who have lists of pro-Europeans from their own internal polling, to PM or tag me so I can add you to the "mailing list".

Fez as Leader and Rakas as Deputy - the 'Out' campaign should be very, very afraid.
