Just on this:Mech Eng jobs asking for Autocad Inventor: 290http://www.indeed.co.uk/jobs?http://...-inventor-jobsvs those asking for Solidworks: 1,474http://www.indeed.co.uk/jobs?q=Mecha...eer+solidworksOh, but Autodesk itself does offer summer placements for Cambridge engineers
Maybe, but Autodesk Inventor is still seen as flat-out better - http://cad.softwareinsider.com/compa...r-Professional.

    Maybe because AI costs more?

True. But all of those are 5 star. AI is far, far more expensive, but when you have it, it's better.

I'm just lucky my school gets it for all of us.

    https://www.linkedin.com/edu/alumni?...p-com-CC-title

    29,000 ex-Cambridge engineers at:
    Google
    Arup
    BP
    Rolls-Royce
    Shell
    etc
    etc

NB. Less than 5% are in the Finance sector.

4,500 - if we drill into Mechanical Engineering only
    https://www.linkedin.com/edu/alumni?...p-com-CC-title

    Rolls-Royce
    Arup
    BP
    Schlumberger
    Jaguar
    etc
    etc

Looks like they are doing ok-ish.
The power of a CompSci, lol. This is literally what I would do in this situation - love reading your posts man.
