So you're saying that 30,000 rapes committed in a population of 1.2 billion in India is acceptable? I have already mentioned to your peers and you that this thread is focused on India and the unusually high number of rapes year after year which is 30,000 per annum. If there is appetite from other forum members to discuss about UK and US number of rapes then I will create another thread. But till then can we just focus on India and her unusually high number of rapes. This was why this thread was created in the first place. Thanks.
30,000 is very low for a country with 1.2 billion people, you saying that shows how unintelligent and ignorant you are.

What's unusually high is the 85,000 rapes in UK which has 60 million people. Not only that but 1 in 5 women have been sexually assaulted which would mean millions have been. These stats show that there is a rape and sexual assaults culture in UK.

The textbook reply to that would be that many of the rapes and sexual assaults in India go unreported/unrecorded. But of course that isnt the case for every other country hey..

    Never heard of law 498A?
As an American white girl who's being more exposed day by day to terrible happenings in other countries I just wish that India could sort itself out as far as women and young children getting raped is concerned. Yes American has its faults too. I accept that wholeheartedly. But this thread is focused on discussing why some 30,000 women are being raped every year for the past 3 consecutive years. So please stick to the thread.

I've been watching so many videos on youtube where the Indians have gone on so many tv programs, to debate the high number of rape cases in India in each of the last 3 years which is about 30,000 rapes per annum. But there's no positive change. Rapes are still happening in India. You only have to watch this video to understand why my emotions run high.

The background to this story is that in 2012 a woman was beaten up and gangraped by 6 men including the bus driver on a moving bus that traveled for 31km. They also used a metal rod to not only beat the victim but penetrated her with it. After raping her, the 6 men ripped out her intestines and left her for dead on the road where she laid for 1 hour. Later on she died due to her internal injuries.

Not sure why you have tagged me in this?

It's a developing country it took them YEARS to count how many people there are and give them ID tags. You're really going to buy into rape propaganda? UK/India rapes are on par however sickening they are. One happens every 20 minutes in the UK! We have more violent crime too.

I tagged you because I value your opinions and also because I wanted to hear more diverse voices on this issue. Right now there are only a handful of people of Indian origin who are active on this thread. They are clearly uncomfortable that a white american girl is casting a spotlight on this issue and naturally they have to be on the defensive and resort to low hand tactics.

Well it's been over hyped by the western media. Tourism means a lot to India and it's growing economy. But i'm sure they will get on either way. I'm more worried about UK chav behaviour!

These are just some of the reported cases of rape committed by Indian men in India against foreign female tourists.

Ok I am not Indian nor white American, so I don't really understand the high rape rate in India.

My guess is that it may be linked to dowry, women may be seen as a burden cos of it, and resented for the high cost of marriage.

I'm not defending anyone when it comes to rape issues, even countries like the US and Russia who are seen as more developed, also have high rates of sexual violence, i think that misogyny is much more insidious in these countries, India and South Africa for example are not far different

Oh Bill. The focus of this thread is on India. How many times do I have to repeat this? Are u afraid to reveal your true opinions on this matter for fear of reprisal by the others? in that case its okay. I understand perfectly. Please go on preserving your gemstones which you can then trade in for cash at the end of your TSR journey.

My best friend happens to be of Indian origin but she's a first generation American. She was telling me how life is so much better here in the States than in India. It was fascinating hearing her tell me about so many things about India that the mainstream media simply doesn't report. I also found it strange that she dreaded going back to India to visit her grandparents and other relatives. One thing led to another and she began educating me on so many things. It was only when I did my own reading and researching online that I realized that whatever she has said may be true.

30,000 rapes in each of the last few years in India is just shocking.

I know that you are obsessed with keeping up an image on here and you want to preserve your gemstones for fear of getting banned which is why you have to thread carefully. It's really okay. That's exactly what I was wondering.

Rape is absolutely disgusting and it's appalling to read about Indian victims of rape culture. But doesn't the united states rank first for the number of rapes reported??

It just seems like the world was moving in a positive direction before, and now all the other stuff around the world we don't want is spreading. Like horrible attitudes towards women, towards homosexuals, etc. It's like everything is going backwards now.

I really do hope India changes in the future and becomes less prone to rape.

I've been watching so many videos on youtube where the Indians have gone on so many tv programs, to debate the high number of rape cases in India in each of the last 3 years which is about 30,000 rapes per annum. India has never really been considered a first-world country. Indian culture has beautiful aspects, don't get me wrong, but I don't think it's a safe place for a woman. I definitely feel very strongly about it myself.

Seriously, gang rapes are far too common in foreign countries. What is it about foreign men that makes them want to take turns raping women in front of other men? That's really disgusting.

I don't understand these foreign cultures, and I've gotten to a point where I just don't want to go to any foreign countries or be around foreigners. I'm probably going to end up hiding out in some rural town with my own kind for the rest of my life at this point, and probably have to eat a lot of crow from right-wing individuals. :/

I wish I had something more to contribute than agreement with you, but this is all I can really muster on the issue. I don't have the stomach for any more research, everything I read about foreign countries makes me want to vomit.

I'm guessing we're more aware of these rapes because it's being reported more, the Indian people are just as outraged and you see protests to punish the rapists and solve this problem. Perhaps the government/police needs to be more proactive at solving it.

This is just my opinion as an outsider though, I'm not Indian myself, nor do I keep up with current affairs in India, so I'm not the best person to ask.
