    In terms of life as a whole the UK is one of the best countries in the world. However, things that really irritate me are;
    Chavs.
    Mass immigration (mass immigration of the middle or upper classes from these countries never occurs, so again chavs really).

    Things that don't really affect me but are still a little annoying are;
    Ridiculous house prices.
    How the public continue voting for politicans who don't actually care even remotely about them.

    Any country that was wealthy and could remove the above I would go to if at all possible.

    Hey! You're not alone, I dislike living in England. I just find it so boring and snobbish, as well as generally lacking in culture. I find America much more interesting, and would prefer to live abroad.

    Other countries have things like "chavs" I guess unless you're in Monaco

    I don't mind immigrants but the ones who come from places like Eastern Europe and then spread racist views can **** off

    Don't most politicians not care about people in any country though :teehee:

    Where do you live in England? Yes, the class system is outdated for example. All countries have rich people but the British obsession with class :facepalm:

    Like I said, the UK is one of the best countries. Its problems regarding politics, wealth, etc are all much less than other countries.

    I love living here and don't find people to be cold or closed at all, it seems like a total stereotype. I lived in Spain and they often commented how I must prefer it because the people are so much more open - in fact it was the opposite.

    Spot on, UK sucks in comparison to quite a bit of the world. The list grows every year. Use to be a time when the UK was decent but now it's just below par. Can think of many places better.

    I don't want to sound anti UK, my parents are very traditional and I respect them

    I definitely like some aspects of our culture, but having done a lot of travelling I find that people from most other countries tend to be so much more open and friendly than Brits. I was unhappy for most of my childhood having grown up in a very "middle England" area of London where there were mostly people who were white like we were and not even diverse Brits. I am in my 20s now and have lived and worked around the country, North Midlands and South, and still don't like it.

    We are often really negative and small minded and moany in this country. I hate reading things like the Guardian or the Telegraph now because it's always navel gazing depressing articles. We have a **** attitude towards success compared to countries like America or China. We are too history focused, I have every respect for traditions like the monarchy but its too much. Also, I am not London centred but outside London a lot of our major cities just don't compare to others IMO. And even London these days is largely a playground for the rich

    Yes I am thinking of moving before people suggest it, however am I being too negative (ironically?)
    Yup, this country is pretty dire. People always compared it to the worst e.g. "at least it isn't as bad as...". What happened to trying to be better? But trying would go against British mentality. INstead you are meant to feel guilty for succeeding. Also no one does anything with their time - they just lounge about rather than going out and doing things (though I suspect that is partially because the UKs spending power is dire and I think at breaking point).

    You are right - go abroad. People tend to have a much happier attitude towards life and have a better standard of living.

    Why are you comparing the UK to crap countries? Compare it to rich ones for god's sake. If you do, then it's pretty bad in a lot of areas - terribly small and expensive housing, low spending power, poor health service, fat and depressed people etc.

    I live in Bath, which is probably exceptionally bad! I haven't tried living in the North as I'm still doing my A levels. I much prefer London as its possible to find cultural hubs and places to socialise with varied classes. However I still want to go abroad permanently! Which countries would you like to live in abroad?

    Don't bring up his posts, and he was obviously trolling from his first post. Anyway, he's been reported the mods can deal with it :yep:

    The UK is objectively speaking, one of the best places to live in the world. Most people in the world would sell their grandmother to live here. There is a reason immigrants flock here. I can assure you OP that this is very much a case of the grass is greener on the other side on your part. Everyone loves to moan about the problems of the wealthy, first world country they live in.
    None of our cities made it into the top 50.

    LOL

    I would have said it's just London but I have lived/worked in a lot of places (I'm older than most on TSR) and travelled to other countries.

    Obviously not everyone. But general British culture is pretty negative

    Spot on a lot more countries have more disposable income now. Brits are drowning in household debt.

    See this is totally different to my experience. I've lived in Birmingham and Sheffield, not lived in London to be fair but whilst you get rude people, as you do anywhere, I've always found the culture to be really nice. And as for British culture in general, I love that too.

    Tbh it's not about me suggesting, go out there and travel and you will see for yourself. One of the best places in the world for pretty much everything is Canada right now. But many more!

    UK was decent maybe in the late 80s early 90s in comparison to the world. Now the UK is literally just a small island solely dependent on a very depressing London.
