I can't say I have strong feelings either way. What would you call the Greens for example?

    The Ecology Party?
Reminds me of the French Écolo.

Yeah, something like the Environment Party. Tory -> Prosperity Party (?); Labour -> Social Democratic Party; -> UKIP -> Britain Party, something along those lines.

What about using names of lesser-known RL parties though? Should that be allowed?

I'm unaware of any party called the Socialist Party, the Liberal Party, the National Liberal Party, or any of the names suggested. Perhaps we could limit it to parties who have at least one MP IRL because any other party isn't really going to affect anything?

I would point to the rise of UKIP to dispute this.

Add a speaker discretion clause for parties which have had a 'significant impact' on the public consciousness? Or just implement a TSR Constitutional Court, something else which I have been considering for a long time.

For a court I would look at the previous court that existed.

Nay. We've seen no evidence either way that the increase from 250 to 450 had an impact (good or bad) so i little reason to vote for further change.

Hence the amendment to parties of significance.

This isn't exactly what I had in mind. I was thinking arguments/judgments etc, with the ability to create binding precedent.

edit: it could extend to interpretation of Acts too, we could have fun

And that is where I disagree, either you ban all RL party names or you allow all RL party names.

What's to stop me starting five RL parties named after other TSR parties if this is the case?

How about RL parties with at least twenty candidates?

I would probably that considered back my second option of the continuation of the status quo and allowing any name.

I would be interested on thoughts on other references to RL parties such as quotes or pictures.

Opposed to quotes and pictures. I have had an overdose of farrage lately.

Yeah strongly opposed to quotes/pictures. Of course you have to be careful with 'quotes', I think people should be allowed to use phrases like 'stronger Britain' because without those two words UKIP lose 85% of their rhetoric.
