Quite correct- the old 634- so for H/Hempstead direct you will need the Arriva 300/301 - and I think unfortunately Arriva no longer do student fares like they once did.
Really? They don't do student fares anymore? That's not fair is it?! Basically it means I have to pay the adult price -.- I remember like 2years ago they had this student savers fare thing, they stopped that?

How you planning to travelling to uni

Apologies about delay in reply- but I have some relative good news for you:
While at Hatfield Station last night I spoke to an Arriva driver waiting with the 301 and asked about student fares- he said the ones stopped just before last Christmas were the ultra-cheap special UH ones such as used to be on the Greenline 724 to Watford etc. ( a couple of quid out and back - something like that ?) However, some other general student discount fares are still in place. And I certainly agree that making students on limited income pay the full whack is wrong.

I take it you are based in H/H, so I`m told it would cost you £23 for a weekly ticket return to Hatfield - spread over a seven day period this of course equates to £3.28p/day, or £4.60p for five days. I`m not sure about monthly/daily ones or other discounts but you can easily find these out for yourself by contacting Arriva- who are part of German Rail may I add, or asking one of the drivers on routes such as the 300/01 which runs from H/H- St. Albans- Hatfield- Welwyn -Stevenage & return.

On the subject of student discount fares, UNO still have in place their £1 in Hatfield UH student / staff ( 0.95p if bought in a cartel of ten) but this is now limited to in-Hatfield only and not valid to Welwyn Garden City any more. On that subject students may be interested to know that Sullivan`s Buses ( the only red bus going through Welwyn Hatfield) route 330 St Albans- Hatfield - Welwyn Garden City ,hourly, Mon- Fri schooldays only, has some good discounts, ie, South Hatfield - Town Centre 0.70p single, £1.10 return.

My connections with the UH are Alumni Association member, former HNC level part time student and was employed as an Engineering Technical Officer in the former Manufacturing Systems and Industrial Engineering building that was demolished when the Forum area was developed. I went there following an engineering trade apprenticeship with the former once mighty ICI ( Imperial Chemical Industries) in Welwyn Garden City.

I currently work in a large manufacturing and research blood plasma processing facility just outside of Borehamwood in a small specialist engineering section, which is responsible for both product and safety critical engineering equipment used in the final sterilisation and heat treatment of intravenous life saving blood products derived from plasma. My buddies in the section on my shift are both Uof H honours graduates, one in electronics the other in computing science.
