So is it fair to say that you believe that where mass murder and armed robbery are concerned, legislators should reintroduce public executions (abolished in England in 1868) for the enjoyment and "fun" of observers?

I wouldn't want to live next door to someone who held such a view.

I believe that enjoying watching another person get killed is sick and inhuman, no matter what that person has done. And I think it is socially harmful to distribute videos of killings, because it encourages such sickness.

How would you characterise my view?
No, it isn't fair to say that. I was merely stating that when it happens, usually during the act so there's no dispute about the offender, I enjoy watching them fail and pay the ultimate price for their despicable acts. For example, a couple of days ago I saw a video depicting two armed Argentinians enter what appeared to be a local bank with the intention of robbing it and perhaps even murdering the staff because their pistols were loaded and they used them as soon as they could. Luckily, the security guy managed to draw his pistol and shoot them, after which both ran and bled out right in front of the bank, which they totally deserved and I felt good watching it. Unluckily, the brave security guy was also mortally wounded. I hope you see why people who bring death deserve death. It's quick, clean, and we don't need to pay for their miserable lives in prisons. The only problem with capital punishment is that sometimes we can't be sure if we caught the right person and in those cases, I'm not an advocator.

I would characterise your view as naive, childish, short-sighted, and overly sensitive. I guarantee you that your silly ‘no matter what’ attitude would change very quickly if someone you held dear fell victim to such savages.

Deliberately hurting others to achieve greedy goals is something that probably at least half of the 90000 people jailed in Britain each year are guilty of, let alone those who are handed non-custodial sentences, or those whose actions don't even bring them into contact with the criminal justice system in the first place. If you want all of them to be publicly executed, surely you are an extremist?
You're twisting my words, I never said that.

what about non-islamic terrorists? Do you get upset when they are killed?
Not particularly but it isn't as pleasant. More like meh…

There is no industry where people are videoed being murdered for entertainment.
Actually there is. In certain corners of the deep web.

I have seen one. Once in a chat room (this is going back a few years now) a dodgy guy sent me a video of a man getting beheaded. From what I remember, they were literally sawing his neck off with a knife. Loads of red was just appearing everywhere, completely horrific.

I have viewed many gore and rekt threads. LiveLeak also has plenty.

I definitely watched Saddam being hung and multiple ISIS executions.

I've seen plenty. The shooting ones aren't generally too bad but I saw one where 2 men had their throats cut with a chain saw. It was grim.

What about people killed in war/ conflict? Not prisoners, on the battlefield?
    (Original post by DiddyDec)
What about people being killed in self defence?
Just to be clear, this poll is about videos of people being killed, however they are being killed, whoever they are, and for whatever reason.

Most recently I've seen quite a few ISIS related beheadings, by accident.
After you watched the first one by accident, didn't you realise partway through what was happening? And didn't you notice the context and surroundings and become able to recognise what later similar videos were about and therefore be able to stop watching them? How can you watch several videos of real beheadings by accident?

I honestly had no idea there was an issue here.

Im guessing that mean it's wrong to masturbate while watching them?

I mean, I had stumbled upon them by accident.
The first one I had seen was an autoplayed video on a facebook.
I don't go out looking for these videos yet for the same reason one may watch the news I have sat through them to realize the extremes that war and twisted religious belief can bring.

If it was lightning quick, you wouldn't get so much enjoyment from watching it.

You enjoy watching people being killed and you call other people "savages". Since you enjoy it, you are more than desensitised.

Just to pick up on your terms "naive" and "childish", you seem to be saying that you think enjoying watching killings is sophisticated and mature. Do you really think that?

What do you think is the psychological effect of viewing these videos, and what is its social effect now that it has clearly become a mass activity? Have you ever asked those questions? The questions don't seem naive or childish to me. Quite the contrary.

I wasn't trying to twist your words, just trying to understanding your view. Your category of people you thought should be publicly killed seemed to include a large number of people.

I didn't say to distribute it, I just suggested we shouldn't suppress it. That type of propaganda can cut both ways.
It certainly can and does, gaining recruits for both sides in the war.

It is distributed by major corporations such as Google and Facebook with the support of western governments. They do not simply "not suppress" it. They distribute it, and "news" organisations promote it.

The facts show that the propaganda suits the purposes of both western corporations and governments and ISIS etc. If it didn't suit ISIS's purposes, they wouldn't make it. If it didn't suit the western corporations' purposes, they wouldn't distribute it. If it didn't suit the western governments' purposes, they wouldn't allow its distribution on their territories.

BTW, most of the most heavily promoted ISIS murder videos are okayed (is "qualified" the Hollywood term?) by an organisation called the SITE Intelligence Group, a private intelligence firm based in the US and run by Israeli analyst Rita Katz.

IMO It's the same as watching snuff movies (do remember the OP used the term 'Killings' and this is relevant to the context of my opinion)

The people being murdered do have rights even if the murderer is denying them and one of these rights is not having their murder being turned into entertainment for sickos.
I guess you're right in a sense that if nobody watched them, ISIS may stop making them type thing...?

But imo it's better for people too see this :dolphin::dolphin::dolphin::dolphin: than pretend it's not happening, or not so bad.

it's harder to deny how awful they are with videos like this

For me it's enough to know they exist to know how abhorrent they are

But as I said they should be treated like child pornography and sharing and viewing them should be a criminal offense

I guess so, because it's hella disrespectful to the person being killed, and they can't give consent or anything
