Whilst cat pictures and colours do have a considerable influence on me...

I may have to actually read them all to cast a vote as apparently pictures aren't a valid justification.

The process will remain the same as declared at the start of the election - no amendment has been made to change it and all candidates entered knowing the election process; it isn't fair to now change it.
I agree it's not fair to change it so I'm not pushing for a change but I am expecting a lot of ties for the top 2

Another question for all candidates - what are your views on the Nat Libs. Not politically but whether you think they should stay?
Given I can't see what is in their subforum it's hard to tell whether there are still some dying embers or not. If so then I would look to provide my experience as Chair and Leader in internal affairs / bureaucracy should they so wish / I feel it so needed. However, the onus does have to be on the members to build a distinctive and clear brand, because I don't really know what they stand for.

Do you not see the potential of having an added monthly cost as dissuading future speakers? If not, why not? If so, how do you plan to deal with peoples' expectations after your speakership?
The Speaker must be rich. There's no place for beggars in that mighty green chair.

Seriously though, I'm a believer and hope that if the CT see a solid running platform that brings considerable value to the House available as open source, they may provide the hardware themselves. It would naturally take a couple of months to figure out where to click and which keys to press in which order but I'm not losing hope.

So long as they can maintain their seat I would allow them to remain. I would also encourage new people to join if I felt it was their best fit and, if the offer were accepted by the leadership, in a non partisan manner try to help them survive. However in the event their seat went up for a by election I would disband the party.

The idea of STV came up last election and was written off. I do think that with 8 candidates STV really is the only way to go!!!
We do kinda have that in a way anyway

Jammy Duel mobbsy91 Seeing as you're both self-declared joke candidates, what would you do if you actually won? Would you resign immediately or actually take on the role?
As stated in the manifesto, I intend to ensure I cannot take the seat, however if all other candidates withdrew I would take the seat until such a time as I am forced out or I feel a change is needed. Take this as a confirmation that at some point in the future I intend to stand seriously

I appreciate the love but I must say I'm surprised you of all people reacted to technical mumbo-jumbo and a strict no to bureaucracy. Is this in fact to shut me up?

If something can be automated, it should be IMO (and yes, that includes situations where a job is eliminated). I do not support socialism insofar as it constitutes an absolute barrier to progress.

    Question time.
Life_peer Props for best manifesto I think, and you've already answered what I was going to ask
Airmed What exactly will you be doing alongside party leaders (or, I would hope, the people actually responsible for keeping up voting in parties where this isn't the leader's responsibility) to increase voting turnout? Do you not think 90%+ for everyone is a little ambitious? Secondly, I like the idea of opening up Ad Hoc, but what steps are you going to take to actually encourage people to write in it? I have a feeling most people won't be interested in writing newspaper articles.
adam9317 You state that you will foster good debate and make closer links with the rest of D&CA. How will you go about both of these?
Nigel Farage MEP Given your distaste for formal rules and constitutions your proposal to create an MHoC penal code surprises me. Do you not think that each case of rule-breaking is unique and is best dealt with by the judgement of the Speaker rather than hard-and-fast penalties?
Saracen's Fez Given that there is already a link to the MHoC relatively prominently visible when you go on the UK politics subforum homepage, how would a thread there help with recruitment? Also, I like the idea of reviving the Twitter feed - what would you put there and would it be just you who would have the login details?

A link is all well and good but all it does is take you through to another subforum with a long list of threads where you can watch experienced MHoCers have arguments. I do feel that if we had an actual thread where people could ask questions of the parties to try and choose one to join they would be more likely to join. The moderation on this thread would I hope be stricter, with pretty much zero tolerance for going off topic or using it for inter- (or for that matter intra-) party arguments.

The Twitter feed would be a very basic news feed for MHoC events in the main, with what might be newspaper headlines for TSRland, as well as potentially retweeting big political stories. Toronto would obviously get the login details as well, as would TF and anybody else who is D&CA mod (adam9317??). Not sure I'd go as far as giving them to party leadership or publicly.

cranbrook_aspie I think it would be a case of highlighting to leaders MPs who are slipping a little in voting, even before I'd publish the review. I don't think 90% is ambitious; I don't want to blunt or anything, but right now I'm listening to voices who are telling me to do silly things and I'm ignoring them and yet I can still function fine and vote. I would encourage party leaders to get a proxy for their MP if said MP would miss even one vote.

As for the AdHoC I'd welcome any sort of articles, just as long as that didn't involve bullying of another member etc. You can write a propaganda article about Labour and I'd accept it. Even articles on people's views of RL events like Brexit would be of interest to this house.

DMcGovern vote for me, you know you want to.

    RayApparently thank you.

toronto353 Sir, I will remove the whiskey from your office by force if needs be.

Quamquam123 please tag me, really. Anyway, like I said in my manifesto, I want to give them a chance. As a dual member, I know they have potential but they need more activity and numbers.

I do partially agree, but surely this could be achieved by just clearing up the last few pages of Join a Party and then getting Financier to be stricter with moving off-topic conversations on that to the Bar? I think if people are being put off by a long list of threads with people arguing, having a thread in UK politics isn't going to change that; they'd still have to go into the MHoC subforum to actually get involved once they'd posted in the thread after all.

Sounds good about the Twitter feed - imo the more MHoC-related Twitter feeds the better

The whisky is no more - you can take the Lambrini that I've still got from Jarred's time as Speaker though, he used to buy that up like it were going out of fashion.

Not just people arguing – experienced people who know what they are doing arguing. It is not obvious as to where to start with the MHoC, so hopefully by getting people into parties asap we can provide them with a support network and advice.

I ought to PM the details for the Labour one to the new CLT at some point.
