Powers of the president? Does the constitution work? I'm feeling a little less confident with this exam!

    Which topics did you answer?

I only managed PACs, 2 party system and pressure group success and missed the African American vote, which is annoying because I'm black...:congrats:
I did voting behaviour and elections! The 10 marker for VB was so good, but I forgot to mention Jews as they're considered a race aswell! What did you write for the 30 marker?

I felt like I didn't write enough (3.5 pages with mediocre handwriting)
    I mentioned:
    -happathy
    -age
-race (how minorities are excluded from the Republican Party gave trump as an example for African Americans, Muslims and Hispanics which make up 25% of the population overall
    -de-alignment

    And I can't remember the rest 😂

Same. I feel like a question on federalism may come up for the 30 marker or whether the constitution is shared powers or seperate powers

And maybe for the president something to do with the relationship of cabinet and executive or checks on the executive but not totally sure

    Would that involve amendments?

Do you by any chance have an essay/essay plan for a question like this please? Unsure what I could put for this question!

You could mention the fact that states' rights, were advocated by a number of republican presidents including Nixon, Ford, Regan and Bush in the new federalism phases.

Could include the quote, "the federal government did not create the states, the states created the Government." From Ronald Regan about advocating the decrease of Governemnt spending and its bursting costs.

Hope this helps, although this is a guess as to what you should put in.

What would I put in a 30 mark question about the separate institutions but shared powers in Constitution?

Wouldn't this be the same kind of question as one on federalism?

The ten-marker for supreme court, for six years straight, has been "Explain" and one of the key concepts.

Look over all the key concepts (they're listed on the AQA website) and make sure you can give an explanation of each. If there's no time for that, memorise a basic definition and that should net you some marks.

The 30-marker bounces between "are judges politicians" and "the role of the supreme court is to defend the constitution/rights, discuss". I think this time it will be one about defending the constitution.

I doubt this would come up as a 30 marker all on its own, but it could be used in a 30 marker on "checks and balances". The president IS the executive, and his appointments must be approved by the Senate (the legislature).

The big current example is the nomination of Merrick Garland to the Supreme Court.

If it comes up as a ten marker, you'll get good marks for mentioning that the Senate almost always approves the appointment, because the president or his staff will discuss it with them before making the official nomination. If the president knows they won't approve it, he won't make the nomination.

How do you think a question on that would be worded?
