'They' seem to be better at cultural appropriation (frankly, who cares, I'm perfectly fine with an Old Etonian deciding to write roots reggae or whatever) than 'we' are tbf.
‘Better’ is a very relative term here. It's not like we're interested in appropriating their culture to begin with…

Sorry? I was talking about black culture and how we're not interested in appropriating it with the exception of a few parts which seem to be very popular among some people (Eminem et al.).

    1) Debater is a funny one, TDA (can be very compelling) or LP (who, while I disagree, can follow his logic)
    2) QQ - DmcG and Limers are excellent but from nothing to LOTO up against Saracen and behaviour since has been top.
    3) Off the top of my head, Compulsory Organ Donation or one of the socialist bills. Shame.
    4) Always competitive, this time I think I'll go for Limers
    5) hazzer
    6) hmmmm.....based across the house I go for Kay. Very good
    7) This one goes to DmcGovern, putting the 6 counties on the map again.

Given the mess of nominations and non-nominations that have amassed in this thread, I have decided that only nominations sent to me via PM will be counted for the voting on Tuesday. If you have posted nominations in this thread and not PMed be about them, please confirm them to me via PM.

One nomination per person per category, and no nominating yourself.

What's the justification for this rule?

You should also begin the period for nominations anew considering you're effectively changing the rules halfway through.

Having not done the receiving end before I assumed that was accepted to be the case. Otherwise we end up with an incredibly long list of nominees and there is a much higher likelihood of multiple-way ties.

In some ways I am starting nominations afresh given I've asked for them to be confirmed via PM.

Okay, that's a good reason. I'll have to think harder.

If you're doing so, you should extend the period to reflect the fact that this is effectively a fresh competition.

There's also the fact that you can only vote for one nominee, and you shouldn't be nominating people whom you're not going to vote for yourself.

I'm willing to extend the deadline to Tuesday, given that is slightly more convenient for me as well.

People who have already PMed me nominations will have those nominations stand unless they tell me otherwise. If you want to nominate and haven't sent me them via PM then you need to do so.

I see no reason for the extension given I expect you're gettinga fair few repeats. If I were split I would nominate the person/item I think least likely to have been nominated already if otherwise torn.

Simply because some members who think they have made nominations are not online every day.

    Also, to avoid duplication:

for 2) I nominated DMcGovern and for 4) I nominated mobbsy

It's only awards, and now we've waited this long we can wait a couple more days.
