The ceremony looked what it was, cheap and simple. I thought there were some good moments, some poor moments and some odd moments, just like every other one of these I've seen.

No doubt it will get bad reviews.

Don't know why I'm still watching. There's been nothing noteworthy with the athletes coming out apart from the Kiribati flag bearer.

Oh some harsh reviews. With what they wanted from a restricted budget, I thought they will pretty well.

They defo captured the culture of Brazil.

    Good for them! :flutter:

They will show it again tomorrow morning at 9.00 or 9.15 from what I've read on the website.

They did! I especially liked when they represented the history of Brazil from tiny micro organisms then to tribes and immigrants from Africa, Japan and Middle East.
The culture of Brazil is so diverse and rich. I also loved their colourful costumes

Who else thinks the London 2012 opening ceremony was way better? This one was boring.

Yeah it was. Our one was more comedic and better. It started to get good right to the end though with the samba.

Yeah, it was quite boring and long-winded, but I think Beijing 2008 was better than both.

That flame is pretty, the best part of the ceremony. The rest... not so good.

Review: It was okay but I thought London's ceremony was much better. It was a bit boring but the global warming section and giving each athlete seeds was an amazing and thoughtful touch. I was amazed they made reference to the favelas and colonialism but it was appreciated. It got better towards the end with the carnival atmosphere giving the party vibes. Also I loved the Refugee team!!!!

    Okay time for bed!!

Environment and seed idea really made me smile. Possible one of the best part of the evening. Let's hope it makes a bit of difference!

I though it was a bit boring but the highlight for me was the firework displays, the samba dancing (especially the little kid) and the whole spiralling fire bit.

Well that's because they have a tight budget of 1 billion, the London one would have cost way more though. Brazil is going through a lot of problems you see but they managed to present their strong and vibrant culture to us. I didn't really think it was boring!!
